I’ve been buying Bowman Sterling every year since it was re-launched in 2019, but I know it comes with risk. I REALLY like it’s low set count of 50 Prospects / 50 Rookies (from memory), and LOVE the 5 Autos per Box, especially with its affordable release price of $325-$350. I even like the 5 mini-boxes per Hobby Box, each containing 1 pack.

What I don’t like is that very few other Collectors seem to like it as much as Me. By continuing to buy it, I am bucking my normal trend of only buying popular products, and strictly ‘buying what I like’. I think Premium1981 was correct when he said it’s likely to be discontinued soon as one of the more unpopular Products in the Topps/Bowman line-up.

I love the product, but they need to go back to the roots of 2004-2009. Etching, awesome designs, stuff that doesn't suck.

Sterling lately looks like Bowman's Best's bastard child. Add some fning etching on the damn cards. Even unlicensed junk wax prizm has etching.

Wholesale is $300+ on these, this is the new normal of price levels getting inflated direct from manufacturer

That breaker was CheapFunBreaks / Houdini who breaks here.

Just to be clear, these packs come in mini boxes with a single pack in them. Still bad if Topps is aware, but who is to say they don’t already know without the mark in the packout process.

The way Collectibles Guru messaged it though, it’s not like the shop or customer knows.

Another marked pack by a different breaker, 2 Bros Sports. Had a Julio duel auto in it. Not even a super.

That is sketchy.

This doesn't matter to me with packs in sealed mini boxes. If you ever buy a "pack" just make sure it's a sealed minibox. Which has always been operating procedure for Sterling.

I was in your boat based on the lack of clarity when people posted, but seems it’s more a concern that the packing process might have some bad actors marking packs and allowing those further down the supply chain to grab them. The assumption is these were missed but speaks to broader issues.

Tin foil scenarios are:
1. The above where it’s internally an issue with bad employees.
2. Company is marking them so they know when the boxes are distributed who they go to.
3. Nothing to see.

I don’t think it’s #2. Probably 1 or 3.

Most likely scenario is #3. Since the packs have no markings whatsoever, marking them to make sure the hits get distributed evenly across the product instead of all in one box makes sense.
