The comical thing about the knock on Yordan's English is that people are running out of things to bitch about.

I really wish you guys would stop quoting that tool. He is only here to start trouble.

Clearly your native language has a huge impact on how hard you can hit the ball. Duh...

So 8 years? It's probably just a choice then.

An interpreter is usually the guys best friend and is on the team payroll. Has nothing to do with his ability to speak English.

It doesn’t work. Where we see mind-numbing stupidity, he sees Richard Roundtree walking in bell-bottoms to the Shaft soundtrack, with a dozen ladies fawning over his big intellect.

I’ve interviewed quite a few Latin American players. When one doesn’t have full confidence in his English, he doesn’t want to make a mistake or struggle to reach for a word when he’s being asking quick and often detailed questions on live TV in a still-noisy stadium.

But that’s the kind of nuance lost on the d-bag who questioned Yordan’s use of an interpreter.

Basically everyone I know took 4 years of Spanish in high school and aren’t the least bit fluent let alone able to confidently conduct an interview in Spanish. It’s not like it’s his job to speak English.

Alvarez is already at like 40% of the career innings in the field that Papi had and at a much more demanding position.

If he started learning English 8 years ago and is around it every day for more than half the year, I find it hard to believe he can't communicate effectively enough.

Keep in mind Gleyber was only 21 at the time:

@BryanHoch
Worth noting that Gleyber Torres is conducting his interviews in English. He said that he worked hard on it over the winter and believes it is important to communicate with the fans and the media.

He can speak English. Both Hinch and Baker says he communicates with teammates in English. That he doesn’t feel comfortable speaking a language that isn’t his native language doesn’t mean anything. Even Torres has to use an interpreter for some questions. Also, English is a really difficult language and many prolly who only speak English still suck at it.

38 million Americans speak Spanish as their primary language at home. There’s a reason many employers pay more for bilingual speakers. It has nothing to do with politics.

That's kinda my point. Make the connection with the fan base then.

3100$ for the Logofractor Super. Thats one heck of a sale for a 2022 Super. Hopefully it's not just relisted next week for 20k.

I don't think there's any debate on what kind of hitter he is.

Awesome card, but that price is completely insane. I would've said $1k is a great sale.

I think it's just a fractor of the popularity of the Logofactor set. Not in line with any other sales.

I was thinking my Bowman Sterling auto super isn't even past 3k.
