The Foxx is #198 for me. I've got every BBWAA inductee going back to 1970 and all of the living Hall of Famers so it's getting more expensive.

These are my two favorite cards in my collection right now.

1931 Doble Aguila Martin Dihigo

198... awesome! I wish I started collecting autos sooner - I only got back into it in 2018 and now I'm pretty much waiting for the prices to fall back down at least a little bit. Vintage and autos are crazy right now. And since you mentioned it, I just checked, I'm missing 8 of the BBWAA inductees since 1970.

Frank's & Bill's collections are insane. I know Bill is at 282 right now and Frank isn't far behind (if he is in fact behind).

We HAVE A REURN ADDRESS CARD.

I love looking up where old ballplayers lived.

I did a bit of research here, and the actual address from the Roush is:

122 South Marin or Main Street Oakland City, Indiana

There's a census that says Marin, but there's no such thing there as far as I can tell, and all of the road names are very generic, so I think the census just reads wrong today.

122 the address still exists, but it's a very small house built only a few years ago. Guessing Edd's house is gone. But there is a memorial trail dedicated to him (which appears to be the alternate name to a stretch of roads there???). A super small town whose biggest landmark is a fairly large model of a pig. Pretty cool they call home to a Hall of Famer also.

OK, I know this is just my thing, so I'm done!

It's ok. You are among friends here. It's not just your thing. Unlike the rest of Blowout, this is a safe space where we all care about the connections of Hall of Famers, pig landmarks, and their houses from the past. And their driver's licenses...

I guess addresses didn't matter to Missouri back then. Though it does have the city (Sunrise Beach). I do think there is a Zack Wheat Drive there if memory serves.

Good luck seeing this one. There are only 5 known copies of Sam Thompson's auto. I now have one of them. It is currently at PSA/DNA getting slabbed.

This is HOF auto number 255 for me.

Mike, that’s awesome! Congrats! I don’t even bother looking for 19th Century.

Thanks.

8 isn’t bad. When I started the journey, I had to pace myself. Picking off smaller goals first. Going after living HOFers or a particular decade or BBWAA elected, etc. It makes it more palatable and next thing you know, boom, you’ve got something.

I had the Timothy keefe, Jim o’rourke, and Dan brouthers cut autos out of 2004 topps tribute cut signature edition.

Unfortunately I sold them quite a while back and no longer have any images.

Do you know if any of these autos were legitimate?

I remember the cap anson auto from the set was a possible fake and I’m not sure what kind of due diligence topps went through to verify the authenticity of the cut autos in the set.

To my recollection, that was the most extensive cut auto checklist I have ever seen in sports cards history in terms of depth of HOFers.
