I am so excited for my two orders to pop that are in QA 2. Some nice stuff in there. Been awhile since I had any orders pop.

Lower prices for bulk can't be too far away. PSA is still sending out emails about the $22 bulk, even tho it has been out for a couple weeks. I'm guessing they just aren't going to see the numbers they were hoping for at $22. $17-18 a card would seem to be the number that will get a lot more people involved, but that may still not be low enough for those looking to submit thousands of cards...

I probably have at least 500 to grade, but I am far more strategic now. I will only send stuff In Preparation for the season. I sent mostly hockey. My next submission will be hockey and star players only.

Depends how low they go. At around $10-$12 for under $100 DV, I would probably send a few thousand cards. At $22 for under $200, I'm good for a little bit.

I wouldn’t really expect $10-$12. I think there is no barrier to grading then and it’s worth grading almost every card at that price point.

So- by April '21 you had a 13m card backlog, and basically all of that was in value subs that came in from June 2020 to March 2021. That's nine months of subs, and 13m cards, or roughly 1.5m cards a month. And that's at $9/per (or so) in an historically hot market. The market is, right now, nowhere near what it was in those heady days of the winter of 2021, and $12/per is higher than $9/per. So I don't know why we'd expect 1.5m+ cards a month to be submitted if selling prices are lower, and grading fees (even at $12 per) are higher. |

Have 1000's of cards to grade at a lower bulk fee. There is a huge market for bulk subs in just the non sport collector sector alone.

At $30 I've got 15 cards, plus a few sealed redmptions in another box. At $18 I've got maybe 50-100 cards, depending on how far the prices I havne't checked lately have fallen. At $12 maybe another couple of hundred. This would be something like Gavin Lux refractors and Yordan/Devers/Tucker base. The $25 in PSA 10 crap. At 2¢ I've got about 100 that still wouldn't go. Some of it from years ago, some of it from the boom. I've still got some Rhys Hoskins Topps Heritage Minors that I haven't thrown in the trash yet (I guess he could still pop 40 HR one year) and AJ Puk (his sister was solid in her one year at ASU). That type of stuff.

Baseball is about to hit its seasonal nadir and I expect a rebound by March/April, but the bottom line still holds. Prices are way, way down from peak and are more like late 2019 early 2020. The cost of grading should reflect this to some degree.

If it were 2 cents to grade I’d grade every card I own.

I think we get down to the $12/100DV range, simply because there are legions of cards that can be sent in for 12 but not for 15 or higher. All of those base RCs that sell for 30-40 in PSA 10, you really need them to be $12 or under to grade. That is where bulk grading was pre boom, and that is where we are headed now.
If they want to slow down the stream a bit, just limit it to a single sport each month. |

$21.25 -$18 (grading fees)=$3.25 It's only worth it if shipping is free in both directions and the gem rate is 100%. Even at an 80% gem rate it's breakeven before accounting for the purchase or raw sale price of the cards. Then you've got the other costs (shipping isn't free in both directions, Paypal...etc) and the opportunity cost (time to purchase, receive, inspect, pack and ship for grading, receive from grading...etc). I can see people doing it for their PC, but definitely not in bulk. Quote:

Woof...some of my consignments did really poorly this week. I have three left at auction until tonight that I'm hoping do a bit better. Ultimately the consignments will pay for the submissions and the 10 PC items I sent with them.
This was my first time using PCS and I have zero complaints. The communication is fantastic and the entire process was efficient.

Using the grading to get the 10 PC items and no extra cash out of pocket is amazing though!
