Default Panini Mosaic Road To The World Cup

I can't find a thread on this but I think this is out soon, looks like there is a checklist out https://www.cardboardconnection.com/...orld-cup-cards. Looks like they have done Asia and Africa dirty to fit in the European and South American sides that didn't qualify for the World Cup.

Not a fan of Road to the World Cup sets, one was more than enough, and Mosaic isn't exactly the greatest brand around. The auto checklist has some good retired content including Pele, Maradona, Beckham, Batistuta, Baggio, Henry, Bergkamp, MvB but is 100 players long, should be good for picking up singles at least.

No Canada on the checklist…. Ouch!
That’s a big miss by Panini.

Can't wait to collect Reynolds (2 USMNT caps), Bello (7 caps), and Hoppe (6 caps) and see them play at the WC. More excellent choices from Panini. After that I'll be targeting the Dike and Zardes inserts for sure.

Hopefully the actual WC set has some better USMNT choices.

If you're a fan of the Peruvian backline and central midfield, this set has you covered (pretty hilarious to include 2 Peruvian left backs and zero attacking players, including guys who have appeared in previous Panini WC sets like Cueva and Carrillo).

I did see Moises Caicedo on the checklist and I only see stickers of his on eBay so I'll look to grab a few of these singles since he's awesome.

Dumb set to include Haaland and Italy.

No one collects current Italian players online and Haaland is not a rookie anymore so who cares. Would make no difference if they were not included.

Obviously no African teams because no one buys them according to Panini.

Pointless set, and horrible looking with the "Road to the World Cup" logo instead of team logos.

Just hoping they release a regular Mosaic set for the World Cup, since Prizm is ridiculously priced.....

Hopefully they're more affordable than Prizm (or at least available as retail options, which they prob are) but still would like to dip my toes in hobby waters soon!

I think I might be the only one here buying this as it's the only set where I can get cards for my main soccer PC.

I don't get why Panini didn't include more African and Asian teams. Really, the only World Cup teams they needed to put here were Argentina, Portugal, France and the US.

I'm not gonna complain too much as I thought they wouldn't even do this and we'll have a Donruss like setlist but still.

I've been working on my 21/22 Donruss master set. Gonna try to complete base, press proofs, optic and silver refractor sets. I think these cards look amazing other than the weak sauce logo on them.

So help me understand this - include Venezuela (finished 10th in CONMEBOL) but not Canada (1st in CONCACAF)???

Even with required lead times, this is beyond ridiculous!

Canada is gonna be in Prizm and NT, Venezuela won't.

Don't be so sure about Canada being in NT..

NT is a "Road to Qatar" product, Canada hasn't been in any of those up to this date (Donruss, Mosaic) so I'm not getting any of my hopes for them being in that.

At least Prizm is the Official WC product, so they pretty much have to be in that.

I expect Canada to be in NT. What a failure it will be on Panini's end to only put them in Prizm.

I finished the 18/19 Donruss autographed set and it was definitely a challenge.

That's awesome, can imagine it wasn't easy. Any decent pics of the full set?

I'm not even anti-Mosaic (I like the look of the #d cards) but this is the Euro set 2.0. This settles at <$200 easily

Saw a few presales at low 400s. Easy pass.

If it has the print run of Euro or EPL Mosaic, sure.

If it has the print run of La Liga or Serie A Mosaic, no chance.

I think I'm gonna be picking up singles. With the amount of retail available, the common parallels will be easier to grab.

I’d be surprised if it falls considering donruss road to World Cup is at $250 and mosaic is generally considered a superior product. This set also has a broader checklist with 28 countries versus 19 with donruss.

Saw on the checklist that Stained Glass is 50 players deep. If it ends up with 1 #d parallel per box, print run could be huge

Someone was doing a break of it last night on Whatnot and it seemed that most boxes had 2 numbered cards (parallels)
