Barcelona was 16-3-3 from January 1 on in league last year and they drew and lost the last 2 games of the year when they played the young guys and everyone's mind was on the beach since 2nd place was wrapped up and they had no hope at the title. They beat Real Madrid 4-0 if you don't remember. They had terrible injuries and weren't very good to start the year. Once they brought in the transfers and got healthy everything was fine. They just got so jealous Of Real Madrid winning UCL that they blew a bunch of money to try and keep up.

Against the one good team Lewandowski played against this year he fell flat on his face. If he would've been the difference against Bayern I think you could have the debate that he has had the better start to the year. Just him blowing multiple chances in the game makes the debate senseless.

Yep, I'm sure. The stat above is meaningless. The notion that Haaland single-handedly changed the outcome of five games this season is silly. Do you really think that Man City would have 2 wins and 5 losses in the Premier League this season if they did not have Haaland?

And, the fact that Barcelona has won more comfortably does not mean that Lewandowski's goals have been less significant in the context of the game. He has scored the first or second goal of the game in every game that Barcelona has won this season.

And, to be clear, I am not trying to take anything away from Haaland. Man City is better with him. He may be the best striker in the world at the moment. But, Barcelona is also much better with Lewandowski who has his own pretty strong claim for still being the best all-around striker in the world at the moment.

It's at least a small stretch to say, "the stat above is meaningless". Obviously that position isn't super easy to defend. Sometimes things really are that simple, though not always.

I'm a big Lewandowski fan. I'm surprised he doesn't get more hobby love. I'm hoping the day will come when he does.

Haaland to score 30 or more goals is +100 even money.

Not sure on the book limits but that's ballsy.
Expecting him to not score 20 goals in the next 31 games or get injured....hmm.

Some other books at 35.

Barcelona have announced profits of €98 million for the 2021-22 campaign and predict they will make another €271m in the current season.

The experts here said they were broke and going bankrupt.

they literally just sold half of their rights to their own clubs trademark and merchandise, barca studios and a hefty percentage (40%) of their TV rights and sold the naming rights to their stadium and haven't paid a number of their players wages ... just to survive.

gone.

I think they'll be fine, they are just gonna end up paying a big price. I see them moving at least a couple of young players in the future for a few hundred of millions to help things.

I'm just teasing you guys. I don't care about Barcelona.

Everything in soccer is corrupt and that's what I assume.

Arsenal's attack is just relentless. So much young talent up front.

Inter’s start to season has been very sub-optimal, with a 2-1 defeat to Roma yesterday evening; as I sit here at Linate Airport for flight back to London.

Serie A looks very open this season. Napoli in great form but Atalanta, Roma and Milan challenging. I don’t see a convincing winner but, rather, expect this season’s Scudetto could go to the wire.

Well this is a reality check for Man Utd. Am sure they will improve this season, but honestly the difference in class is huge. What a player Haaland is.

RIP to those that were spending thousands and thousands on Sancho rookies, while Foden was still going for 99 cents.

lol

Well, some of us like to be diversified:

ManU should have asked Serbia for some defensive help.

I think it's been over 50 years since a player from City scored a hat trick in the derby. Then this:

Congrats Foden!

KDB is one of the absolute best. The service he's providing is incredible and he makes it looks easy.

No massive love in the hobby, which is a bit sad.

Maybe one day. Modric is only just starting to see prices that somewhat reflect his legacy. Maybe Muller, Iniesta and KDB are next. lol.
