Because I think those who are going to pay that price are going to do it regardless and those who were definitely not going to pay that price will not be swayed be the presence of sp parallels.

Highly doubtful it makes much of a difference IMO.
Breakers don't care.
Anyone else willing to pay that price probably isn't the type to do much checklist digging as they clearly aren't concerned much about getting into the weeds on value.

I envision hundreds of cases of these sitting in warehouses for years. People forced to hold on to over-produced, over-priced cards, a marker of the product and money-grab that finally burst the hobby bubble.

IMO, Topps/Fanatics screwed themselves in ‘22. Virtually no releases through most of the MLB season, and then a ton of products all lined up (currently) for the last quarter+, which means that all these products will be mass-produced and competing for dollars - Topps Chrome, Update, Chrome Update, Bowman Chrome, Archives, Ginter, Stadium Club, Heritage High Numbers, Bowman Draft, Bowman’s Best, Pro Debut, Heritage Minors, etc.

I miss Archives in June, Club in July, Bowman Chrome in September, Topps Chrome is in August, Ginter over the summer, Heritage Minor in October, etc. seemed so streamlined 3 years ago.

i felt they needed a reset due to the pandemic, but they both went onward churning out product. Obviously due to money and contracts and licensing they HAD to, but would been a perfect opportunity for the big 2 to take a pause on how they operate

Sure makes it easier for prospecting rookies (especially NBA/NFL w/ a full season past) when you have some sample size to work with.
I remember we used to be up in arms when a previous year calendar release leaked into January.

This is just one step closer to getting me out of unopened collecting and into singles collecting.


And coming from me, that's big. Everyone here knows I love unopened.

On the other hand, it does help not buying into products before they are released.

This checklist sucks not only because of names that are missing, but also because of the names that are included.

It says there's a RC for a Twins player named Curtis Terry, but the guy has never appeared in a single game for the Twins! I had never heard of him, but apparently he made his MLB debut with the Rangers last year and then signed a minor league contract with the Twins organization in the off season and played a few months for our AAA affiliate before being released.

They call them "extended base" so I don't think they are SP in the sense we are used to. I assume it's more like the Heritage extended base cards you see only slightly less often than regular base.
