2021 Retail lessons learned-Select, Optic, Prizm

Seems like more and more are popping up in stores and thought people could share experiences so people would not just buy whatever they see and possible avoid products online.

Select Blasters- opened 5 priced at $29, lots of rookies- die cut, colors etc l…but did not get 1 Field level of any player in all the blasters.

Optic Blasters and Value packs- the Value packs at $16 each give a good number of rookie parallels but you can see through the back of the pack to see who the rookie/hit is-avoid buying online since they most likely have been searched.
Blasters have tons of Rookies/Pinks/holos. The Hyper rookie patch seemed to be pretty short printed as I only got 1 out of 6 blasters

Prizm Retail Box- 4 cards 24 packs a box. @ $96 a box these were probably the worse product I opened. Terrible quality as I had numerous cards with very bad damage. Two of the cards had the film on the back coming off. The 2 green ice, and 3 checkerboards.. these were Awful since there is hardly any rookies.. I have a link to pics of 3 retail boxes I busted. Did not get 1 Mac Jones base, so checkerboard or Green Ice may be worth picking up.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe I've heard multiple people say that Field Levels aren't in Blasters. I'm not sure if its just Blasters or all Retail. Might keep Field Levels at least somewhat rare.

Thanks for the write up. The only one of value is Prizm Retail, however, the QC is lacking and they are already selling for $299 sealed.

Better off taking the hit and buying singles of your chase QB if you want a checkerboard. Even then, a lot of those are 70/30 centering.

Yea it looks like checkerboards are really high right now, eventually I plan to pick some up. They look IMO better than the green ice

Wheres the lie? Isnt that obvious. One of the shops around here has a couple molesters that regularly search Fat Packs and weigh the blasters. They dont work for the LCS.

FB Prizm cellos and blasters I think were brutal.Maybe other formats were better.

I think it was just a lighthearted comment because you had a positive experience with the Optic value packs. I’ve heard so many negative things about the Optic value packs this year (E.g. Bad QC, damaged cards, no rookies). Sounds like you beat the odds!

For me, the Optic megas have been the best rip. Only ripped a few Megas and I pulled a #’d card (orange scope IIRC) and a purple velocity of Zach Wilson.

Select Retail not having silvers sure seems to kill it.
Prizm centering is really bad and expensive.
Optic seems to be the cleanest, but man, they did the "hold me beer" response to the centering from Prizm.

I think we've come to the point where if he thought he'd done something wrong he would have admitted it. His apology did not provide that. You can tell he wanted to skewer the testing system but he probably couldn't for whatever reason.
