My question is what actually happens to the FOTL boxes if they aren’t being purchased? Distributors aren’t buying items they can’t resell. Panini would be fools sitting on tons of held back inventory of every release. Everything is motivated by profits, so if no profits are to be had, then where does the product go? Panini can only force so many non-profitable items to distributors, whose margins are already disappearing.

The exact reason they are doing all this is profit. Hobby prices are kept higher by artificially manipulating FOTL. Look back to when this started. Last year Select Basketball FOTL sold out at $750. NT Basketball FOTL sold out at $3800. The market is clearly weaker now. Yet most FOTL sell out prices, with worse classes, are sky high. Look at where most basketball and football pro uniform FOTL releases "sell out" at. Panini and their good friends don't want the true auctions running their course because it will drive down prices of everything across the board. They make less profit. Even when FOTL was fair it was still artificially manipulated by bs distributor presale hobby prices that inflated FOTL sell out prices. The only long term hope is that Fanatics goes with a fair auction system. Either basically the exact system Panini uses and have all the boxes available during the listing or the blind auction system. Either way Fanatics makes the most they can on a product without trying to screw everyone over. Buyers that want the product can get as much as they want at the actual value the market decides. Unfortunately, it is more likely Fanatics goes a different version of the Panini route. Panini wants to give most profit to their good friends. Fanatics will probably try to manipulate/cheat the system and keep every last cent of profit for themselves. |

These are most likely being bought in bulk with the whatnot breakers. We have a breaking account but I’m not paying these prices and would feel disgusted charging a 100% markup like some of the breakers actively do. As an example, I saw someone selling 2021 flawless personal breaks the other day for $13k and people were buying them up and of course these people were saying how they got a steal..

It's laughable how much this is costing for hobby and FOTL.
2021 product selling at or near 2020 is downright laughable.

Didn’t they make a ton of retails last year? I’m sure they will again. Easy money

If you think that's bad look at 2022 football presales! Most are 80-100% of what 2021 version is selling at. Unless the MSRP would be higher every single 2022 football product should be at most half of 2021. Pretty much every collegiate product should be MSRP.

I assumed that would be the case, but I’ve been hearing conflicting reports from my local hobby shops. I hope they don’t, but am sure that greed will prevail Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They should print the lights out of everything until their license is up. Make that money

Don't overthink this, folks. Yes, they will absolutely print retail Select. Thats a ton of money for Panini, no chance they eliminate retail after introducing it last year.

See the Chronicles release…..where every box had a TLaw and Mac auto…..all the breakers thinking they’d hit the motherload……can’t say I wasn’t a little happy to see the prices on those autos implode.

Sounds like a fun break though. Be getting my normal undrafted rookie long snapper as my auto.

So are the live 2022 XRCs be considered true RCs? Aren't they just short printed base cards now?

Considering they are now 3 per case, I'd say short printed base cards.

To me the better question is how the breakers ended up with CASES of the FOTL stuff, and when they knew it would be "loaded". It would surprise me to find that there were advance whispers to the breakers to load up. |

I always loved Select, especially "in hand" - they are really nicely made, beautiful cards.
One odd checklist item - there's a 75 card insert set, #'d, that says Super Bowl Prizm Signatures. Is this just a massive dump of the popular, inter-brand series but with traditional #1-#75 insert numbering? Seems like you could have spread this out a bit?
