Sounds like it's just the worst season for your collection.

sold my acunas and trouts before this year. didn't have any vlads. I have mostly Soto.
Still, the fact that none of those guys broke loose this year....not good for the sport.

The season has been a lot of fun to watch!
Do you watch baseball or just invest in cards? If you purely an investor, then sure, maybe it’s a bad season. If your a fan of baseball, then it is not a bad season.

and that's any sport. I like to watch the best. If Brady, Mahomes, Rodgers and Wilson were all injured or having off years or suspended, i'd be saying the same thing.

- Ohtani … well … being Shohei - Julio Rodriguez is killing his rookie season - The Orioles playing above 500 since, well I don’t know when, but it’s been a minute - Sure, Soto is a little cool right now, but the Padres are stacked right now. Haven’t seen a team that stacked in a while, plus he just hit a homer so maybe he’s heating up. - The AL Central is exciting! Not the major heavy hitters, but it is an all out race to the end, every game matters until the last! That’s just quickly off the top of my head. There is more.

How is this worst season ever? Did you see the standing of the AL wild card race? Heck, with the way Yankees is losing now, someone may even catch them for the division title. It's always fun to root for the underdog O's.
Individually, Judge is still chasing 60 (even though he cooled off quite a bit). Goldschmidt is chasing a triple crown. Ohtani is still Ohtani. Julio's HR derby performance and good rookie season. Detmers pitched a no-hitter and an immaculate inning in the same season. Disappointing season for some young stars? Yes. Worst season ever? I don't think so.

EvER?!
It's been a great season. Lots of great plays, lots of great players. Tons of young players improving, All-time greats showing glimpses of what made them so special. Vlad is having a really good year. Acuna? Griffey got hurt and hit .258 in 1995, the next 4 years 49 HR, 56 HR, 56 HR, 48 HR. |

Worst season ever would probably be 1968 when Carl Yastrzemski lead the league with a measly .301 BA and Mickey Mantle announced his retirement right afterward. Also, other players from the golden era like Willie Mays and Ernie Banks were getting old and in the decline. I'm sure there are other contenders for "Worst Season Ever." But I doubt 2022 is the worst.

I LOVE baseball and it's not the worst season ever, but it's not been a barnbuster by any means.
Judge: started red hot, but has cooled off significantly, like the entire Yankees team. Julio: Nice rookie start, but he can only do so much. Hope Seattle makes some noise in the playoffs Baltimore: Sure a great story, but where's the Orioles thread? The sportscard market: no product has really taken off, products are over produced. and most products are delayed. Topps chrome in October? PLEASE. AL Central: exciting regionally, but meh nationally. Tatis: Not a good thing when one of baseball's most marketable young guys screws the pooch. Dodgers: absolutely historic season, but not much noise being generated. Albert: The machine is an absolute legend and his thread is a ghost town, which is a damn shame. He is one of the all time best, but an after thought. Football: Already dominating sports talk over baseball and the season hasn't even started yet. You all can pile on for me telling the truth, and I'll take the it. I Love MLB, but I can't sugarcoat this season. Hopefully, 2023 is a monster. EDIT: Usually the the post season is must see. Hope this give MLB a nice late season bounce. |

The sport, the game...is fine...hobby wise for those invested in certain stars, yes...hobby values all taking hits...but that's not because of the game but because of the economy. Put the cards in the closet if you don't have credit card bills to answer to and enjoy the games as we head into the best part of the baseball season...September and post season play. Card values will go back up sometime down the road.
