Default Plate Rainbows!

To me, one of the greatest types of Ginter cards are the printing plates. And the best kind of card rainbows are the plate rainbows!

Anyone have any of these elusive, seemingly impossible, examples?

For me, I'm still working on a few from the 2006 A&G set:
Carl Lewis - need two
Jimmy Rollins - need two
Aaron Rowand - need two
Garret Anderson - need two
Jose Reyes - need two
Grover Cleveland - need one!
John Wooden - need one!

For now, I will live through you all if you have any plate rainbows to share?

Thanks!
Jason

Default Plate Rainbows!

I’m going for a 2019 Triple Threads Autographed Relics rainbow of the guy I PC (Scott Kingery), which includes a 1/1 Ruby, a 1/1 wood, and the 4 plates… I currently have all of them except the black plate…which I coincidentally passed on during eBay bidding (I already had one plate at the time but later decided to grab all the rest when they became available). Regretting that miss and am hoping someone here has the black for sale or trade….?

I have four sets of plate rainbows for Riley Pint, only one of which I have a screenshot easily accessible:

But I can direct link to my website for them all:

I don't have any completed 4/4, but I have several of 2+:

2016 Topps Chrome Rookie Autographs Tyler Duffey - need 2
2016 Gypsy Queen Mini Tyler Duffey - need 2
2015 Topps Update Eddie Rosario - need 2
2013 Topps Mini Chris Herrmann - need 2
2009 Bowman Draft Chrome Prospects Chris Herrmann - need 2
2009 Allen & Ginter Francisco Liriano - need 1
2009 UD Goodwin Champions Minis Joe Nathan - need 2

I've always liked printing plates, sure is tough usually to get even two for the same card though

Not ginter. But I do have the Yasmani Grandal 2015 Series 1 plate rainbow.

Got it by accident. Back then I was collecting plates. I'd take any if it was cheap.

Got the first two for less than $10 each. Then the third popped up and I got that. Maybe a month or two later number 4 showed up. Seller wanted like $30 for it which normally I wouldn't have done, but I couldn't pass up the chance at a plate rainbow.

Total dumb luck.

If I were able to assemble a 4/4 plate set I would be totally unable to resist buying some ink and playing with it, even though I have absolutely zero idea how that would work.

Ok, I’ll play along. This is my only one. Assembled it years ago when I lived in St. Louis. Wainwright RC plate set (sorry for the blurry pic)

You'll probably get a bunch of responses like mine. I can't find a scan but I have the set of Grady Sizemore plates from 2005 Donruss Diamond Kings. They had some sort of contest, I think the first 300 people to send in a complete set got a set of plates of a random player. So lots of those sets are in circulation.

Other than that, I don't think I have a complete set of any other set, but I'm at 3 on a couple.

I have 2 of 4 from 2016 Topps Chrome #3 Francisco Lindor - Yellow and Cyan. Would pay enormous sums for the other 2

Getting all four is tough. Seems like it's easy to find two or three, and then they just languish. I have 3/4 from 2006 A&G, and 1/4 from 2007 (and the mini wood from each year). Leaving aside A&G, the most complete rainbow is from 2014 Bowman: 20/20 cards, including 7 1/1s.

The non-1/1s, for their part, are:
  • Base
  • Hometown
  • Blue /500 (have the 1/500)
  • Orange /250
  • Green /150
  • Yellow /99
  • Silver /75
  • Gold /50 (have the 1/50)
  • Black /25
  • Purple /10
  • Silver Ice
  • Red Ice /25
  • Purple Ice /10 (have the 1/10)

Plate rainbows are brutal. I have 1 of 4 for the Jonathan Stiever 2018 Bowman Draft plate rainbow and I can’t find 3 of the 4 plates and the /5 for the life of me.

I have been looking for the last one for 2015 Bowman Chrome Mitch Moreland for over 6 years.

I think I'm one plate short on a couple of years from my fav brand and fav player. Likely never to be completed since they are 2006 and 2007 sets.

Did some more looking. Gomes has 302 1/1s, 229 of which are printing plates. That translates to 55 sets of four printing plates, one set of eight (front/back plates), plus the "spot" printing plate from 2007 Topps Co-Signers.

If my math is correct, and counting one that is incoming, I have an even 100 printing plates out of the 229.

Full set:
  • 2002 Just the Franchise Prototypes
  • 2002-03 Justifiable
  • 2005 Topps Rookie Cup (also have the Chrome Gold Refractor Reprints 1/1; missing the Gold 1/1)
  • 2006 Upper Deck Artifacts AL Artifacts
  • 2014 Bowman (as per above, also have the other 3 1/1s for the set)

3/4:
  • 2006 Bowman Chrome
  • 2006 SPx
  • 2006 Topps Allen & Ginter (also have the wood 1/1)
  • 2006 Topps Chrome
  • 2006 Topps Turkey Red
  • 2006 Upper Deck Artifacts MLB Apparel (the fourth is owned by another player collector)
  • 2006 Upper Deck Ovation
  • 2007 Topps Chrome (also have the SuperFractor 1/1)
  • 2007 Upper Deck Premier
  • 2008 Topps Chrome (also have the SuperFractor 1/1)

2/4:
  • 2006 Flair Showcase Fresh Ink
  • 2006 Fleer Tradition
  • 2006 Upper Deck Future Stars
  • 2007 Fleer Autographics (the card itself, however, appears not to have been made)
  • 2007 Topps
  • 2008 Topps
  • 2009 Topps 206
  • 2009 Topps 206 mini (another player collector has a third)
  • 2009 Topps Updates & Highlights
  • 2013 Topps Mini
  • 2014 Topps Gypsy Queen mini (also have the mini leather 1/1)
  • 2014 Topps Mini #274
  • 2014 Topps Update

4/8:
  • 2005 Topps Total (have two front and two back)

And then the sets where I have zero:
  • 2006 Upper Deck Artifacts Awesome Artifacts (given how many other Gomes Artifacts plates have surfaced, I'm not sure these ones were actually produced)
  • 2011 Topps
  • 2013 Topps Gypsy Queen mini
  • 2014 Topps #146
  • 2014 Topps #274
  • 2014 Topps Mini #146
  • 2015 Topps Opening Day

Not Ginter..... Not baseball...

But any chance I have to show off some of my Harper's, I'm gonna take the opportunity...
