No thread again?

FOTL is happening now. Floor is $300. My guess is it sells out around $400-$450.

Same amount as last year, but 2021 Hobby is preselling for $100+ less than 2020 and will probably drop after release, so guessing the powers might be a little wary of overpaying for FOTL.

No thread because most people, including myself, just don’t care anymore. I’m over the price manipulation and overpriced junk with patches not even associated with a player. I used to be excited about FOTL releases, now it’s just one more overpriced attempt at screwing people over. Panini alienated a lot of there base collectors over the last few years with outrageous prices, and now many refuse to play their games.

Lol 3800 boxes gone at $383.33 or higher. Yeah sure. I added to cart at 1:39 in 1 click. What did it "sell out" about 60-90 seconds after that?

Yeah pretty obvious this time. 2020 FOTL is on ebay as low as $575 so hard to pay ~$400 for 21 and expect to make anything flipping.

+1

This is exactly what some of us said if Panini focused on short term over long term.

FOTL was a great concept. Maybe a little too good at the beginning. But almost every change they've taken since then has served to make it less appealing.

The dutch auction process was supposed to be "fair" and help combat bots (kinda). But now it's just a manipulated tool to make sure certain distributors can protect their assets.

FOTL threads used to be pages and pages long, esp on release day. Ppl fighting the circle of death, begging to give Panini their money. It was an event each time.

1-2 years later...hardly a peep. Ppl don't care. And that's the worst thing someone can say about your product.

Seems like it might be the overall new release market that is suffering from buyers fatigue - not just FOTL product. Prizm released to limited fanfare. I walked into my Walmart and saw 30 blasters sitting there (Calgary, Canada). But unless buyers take a hard stance and stop supporting breakers and such, then nothing will change. It's a supply-demand market, just like everything else, so obviously Panini is still making money with their strategy. Even if one release suffers (FOTL, Prizm, etc) they've added so many other revenue streams that would make them indifferent.

On today's edition of products I didn't even realize were releasing that breakers will rip for maybe a week before the entire community loses all interest we have Obsidian Basketball!

This entire year of basketball releases has been underwhelming. Goes to show if you can’t get the products out on time people won’t care.

Looking for rare Jameis Winston rookies (Prizm White Sparkle, Gold Vinyl, etc), 1/1's and jersey #'d stuff.

That is the biggest issue - the season has already happened.

Couldn't agree more. I clicked on the auction right after it started just to see, saw the price, laughed, closed the tab.

The only 3 NBA uniformed products that have been interesting this year have been Contenders (wish they were doing the Contenders Optic like Football), Origins and Donruss Choice, and MAYBE Donruss Elite. Coincidentally those have more or less held their value. The rest have been terrible, especially Prizm, and are taking a bath. On Prizm it's not just that it released in the summer, it's that the quality control has been bad for a $200 product let alone a $1200+ product.

(Note I'm not a buyer of the uber expensive stuff and missed Photogenic, in case anyone is a big fan in those).

And what is the only 21-22 basketball product that has had a significant increase in price? The only NBA uniform product the bums weren't allow to manipulate. Photogenic.

In terms of look, value, and price the average buyer had access to the 3 best 21-22 basketball products so far are Photogenic, Elite, and either Contenders or Revolution.

BTW 21-22 Prizm hobby isn't a $1200 product. It's a $350 product manipulated by bums to sell at $1900 a box that within a couple weeks went down to under $1000 a box. It's around $950 now.

Sorry just noticed this .. I've scanned all the release calendars and didn't see any mention for the rest of 2022. Based on football where regular contenders released 3/9 and contenders optic on 6/22, basketball should have been released already (regular was on 4/13) or certainly by the end of August.

I hope they do, CO has become one of my favorite brands.
