Even get guys like GPIII or Jose Alvarado in the set?

This set literally looks like it could have been released in July 2021 opposed to July 2022.
It was definitely printed in 2021 as that is the year on the bottom backs of the cards. I believe it was printed sometime between mid-August to mid-October as Al Farouq Aminu is in the base set. He is shown in a Bulls uniform which he played the end of the 2020/21 season with, but he is listed on the card on the Spurs and there is a note on the front saying he was traded to the Spurs on 8/11/21. He ended up getting waived by the Spurs in October 2021 before the regular season started.

Another example of it being printed back in Fall of 2021 is that Ersan was included in an autograph set. He had not been in any other 2021/22 products because he wasn't on a team at all and was a free agent, so he couldn't be included in any products since he had no team. It must have been OK to include him in Prizm though since the product was already physically produced before the season actually began.

I’m sure most people don’t care about these things but it just makes the product seem so antiquated and sloppy. Not sure what I should expect at this point lol.
My personal favorite is them putting the rookie badge on 29-year-old 3rd-year "rookie" Juan Tuscano-Anderson

Correct. I’m talking about 2020-21 Prizm LaMelo Ball cards. In the year that the product has been out prices have dropped tremendously

21-22 single prices haven’t had time to settle

Weird, I hardly notice because I never bought into Lamello, though he may develop into a nice facilitator. Bane, Smith, Pritchard, and Nesmith, the four I have followed from the start, have been if anything steady or up.

Hes never been on any cards before this year. He deserves a RC badge!

Zero chance this was printed back then.

It was likely designed and the checklist finalized in late 2021, probably before the season started. That doesnt mean it was actually printed.

Old school rookie designation…like John Stockton getting his rookie card five years after his rookie year (discounting Star of course). I’m surprised that Caruso didn’t get the rookie tag in 2019-20 after only appearing in autograph sets beforehand.

As a basketball fan I love that Purvis Short has an auto in this set. As a collector I hate it. I've always wondered what those negotiations sounded like? Obviously many of these guys need some form of income. I remember the story of Adrian Dantley working as a crossing guard after he retired so he could get health care insurance. So does his agent schedule a meeting at the school and drop off 1000's of cards for him to sign on his lunch break? (I know that's not how it goes, but I imagine it as a sitcom episode)

Passed on Hobby, but wouldn't mind some retail. Pending what the quality is, i may get more/less. I used to like to piece the set together; but not sure i'll get enough this year. While i don't mind an increased print run; i also don't want it printed into the ground. Don't think it's worth paying second hand prices at the moment. I imagine we'll be getting Mega Boxes, and Cello's; coming... plus fast break already came out. They'll be plenty of product out there i think... just not sure if the price is right on it.

Saw a bunch of these at my local Walmart after not seeing any of last year's release. I haven't seen Optic since Luka's rookie year.

Doubt I'll buy any though. Way too late in the release schedule and the product looks awful this year.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but retail is not worth it at all (to me). After nearly 3 years of not being able to find any Prizm in the wild and having the itch to open so bad, I finally found some blasters being unpacked at Walmart yesterday and bought 10 blasters. No where near as fun as I remembered. The collation is just horrible, So many triples of the same base and just a ton of rookies I’ve never even heard of. Best cards were a silver Sengun and silver cracked ice Mobley. Everything else was trash. I’m sticking to just buying my singles going forward. Will save me cash in the long run and actually like what I use it for.

Been seeing a lot of the 75th inserts and blue 75th parallels on eBay and Facebook. With how much of this stuff they print, I’d hold off on these for a month or two

$20 vs $30-35 makes a big difference

Yeah.i wanted to rip some basketball so i bit the bullet on some when Target had them online. If i found them at WM though I'd definitely leave them at $35 +tax. At least with Target you get them a tad cheaper and a red card discount.

Yeah I'm not gonna pay $37/ at Walmart, but for $30 flat with the red card to offset tax, Ill rip a few and stash a few to rip or sell down the road depending on class/market.

Still excited to be able to get Prizm retail at MSRP... its been a minute and I still enjoy ripping and building sets.

If I had to rip one Prizm basketball retail is a way better rip than Prizm football retail this year. Not that anyone cares how the cards look but the ice prizms are way better looking than any of the per box prizm hits in football. Better chance at the better players in basketball and seems autos fall more often. Really dig the 75th Prizm parallels. That would be a set worth having.
