Default 2022 Topps complete set variations

So saw a different version of the 660 Bobby Witt Jr series 2 card that says "complete sets" on the back. (Pics Attached).. So does that mean if u buy the complete set (looks like from the listing its the All Star edition.. Also pics attached of set) series 1 and 2 u get this version of the card? Or is that not guaranteed? Or do u get neither version and instead just get the checklist listed Ohtani? Sorry I do mostly football.. Baseball isn't my normal Forte. Just trying to figure out how to get this particular version the cheapest. Appreciate any help in advance

You get the 660 variation along with the 660 Ohtani.

The other Witt 660 you see on eBay is a pack pulled SP.

You can also wait on the retail factory set if you just want the Witt card, it will be cheaper (and 2 Franco cards!).

All factory sets have 3 extra cards - Witt Torkelson and jrod. Plus the 5 card variation set (franco, marsh, Cruz, Duran, Baz)

Similar to 2018 with acuna/Torres and 2019 vlad.

If it is, people are making a killing selling these to unsuspecting buyers.

It's only the retail factory sets that come with the 5 card rookie variations.

Supposedly next week, most retailers are taking pre-orders for around $60 a set.

You do get the foilboard #'d cards though in hobby sets. Given who the RC variations are (Duran and Brandon Marsh are scrubs, and Shane Baz is out for the season) I would take my chances with the foilboards.

Default 2022 Topps complete set variations

Here’s what they look like.

I have plenty of variation sets available.

Does it make sense to wait for the Target version? From what I've read here, it would include Tork, Julio and Witt.

Topps is running late in their various versions of factory sets this year, but the way the 3 cards (Torkelson, JRod and Witt) are numbered, those 3 cards are probably going to be inserted into every variations of factory sets this year, just like Acuna and Torres were in all 2018 factory sets. The only difference is the ones currently being sold on ebay, though pulled from the All Star game factory sets, are not stamped with a All Star game foil stamp which the 2018 All Star Game Acunas and Torres were. These Torkelson, JRod and Witt should not be rare. There could be 100k factory sets or more made this year and every one of those sets could have these three inserted cards. Some could gamble and make out IF Topps does not put them in every factory set versions as there has NOT been any info out about that yet. But if they do...then you'll have high print run base cards of the 3...and an even more interesting debate about the three players' flagship RC lol...21 BB, series 2 sp, factory set insert or update.

I have cases of the pure generic retail sets and they have those 3. They certainly ARE VERY likely gonna be in all factory flavors.

Ah, I might've misunderstood what you quoted.

So all hobby sets will include the variation RCs of Witt Jr, JRod and Torkelson (as well as a shot at their foilboards)?

If so, I'm very happy haha.

Thanks for posting - do you think the wax JROD SP will be scarcer than the ‘complete set’ version?

EDIT: Disregard - was having a 'just woke up and haven't had any caffeine yet' brain fart. Leaving for posterity because when an adult is wrong, they should own it.

Assuming it's like the previous years where 'extra' players were inserted (Acuna, Torres, Guerrero), NO, the 5 foilboard cards per hobby set will not include them. Just the 'normal' 660 cards of Series 1/2.

Yes, if all complete sets include this, there will be WAY more than there are S2 SPs.

Estimated print run of the 'late rookie' S2 SPs is like 3,000 if it's in line with the rest of the SPs in the set, and even if they turn out to be 'overprinted SPs' a la Bat Down (which is estimated at ~20k), that would still put them way below the total print run of factory sets.

So I am totally confused. Is this an accurate summation (in ‘newb’ speak)?
Topps S2 had a number of SPs, including JRod and Witt. These are rare.
Topps Complete Sets will include JRod / Witt / Torkelson as three extra cards, effectively meaning that there will be 663 cards in the set.
Topps Complete sets from certain retailers such as Target and WalMart will also include a five card bonus pack, with players such as Wander and ONeil Cruz. Those sets go on sale this upcoming week.

This isn't true at all... there are definitely foilboards of all 3 guys you mentioned.

My mistake. I was thinking of there being no foilboard versions of the SPs. Yes, there were foilboard versions of the 'complete set' variations. Thank you for correcting.
