You know it's special when yesterday they walked Yordan to load the bases to pitch to Kyle Tucker.
Then Tucker had a base clearing double where Yordan scored from first after being held up at third but running home through the sign.

Try harder when quoting me! This is really weak. So you’re trying to prove my point that the play wasn’t special at all?

The extent to which Alvarez is being ignored by the hobby is astounding.

I just picked up a 2022 Heritage Black Chrome of him for $32.....comparable stars like Acuna/Soto/Trout/Ohtani/Tatis/Vlad Jr., etc. are selling for $100-300.

Sounds like a great time to buy.

Defend that bridge!

Admittedly, I did not put much effort into my response. I merely just read your comment, and thought, “well, that’s really dumb. And here’s why…”

His 2nd and 3rd year stuff is definitely cheap, but his 2020 stuff is flying today along with BCAs.

Funny…felt the exact same thing about yours. At least we can agree on that. Yordan 4 MVP!

He’s a DH on one of the most hated teams in baseball. He has 2 of the 5 tools. You can’t compare him to those other guys.

I doubt there's anyone here that agrees with your ridiculous takes other than BBases, which should tell you something.

I don't think it's unnecessary like Ben Baller. The gloss and refraction against the matte is new and different, in a good way.

You completely ignored the counter point about Harper being a DH and his betting odds a few pages back.

Labelling Yordan as only a DH during a game that he's playing the field, no less, which he's done more and more each year in the league to the point where he's at about a 50-50 or so split this year. No one is arguing he's an elite defender, but it's equally stupid to argue he's only a DH. I guess Brantley is just a DH too. Huh, funny, two full time DHs. How does that work?

Your take on the play in eye's video. The fact that you believe you know what the players were laughing about enough to argue definitively is just plain stupid.

"A DH can't be a superstar" is another doozy.

I can go on, but it's a complete waste of my time.

Those just happen to be the two tools that the hobby pays for the most.

Are they? Just above...its being said that he's way underpriced in comparison to the 5 tool guys. If those 2 tools were all that mattered to the hobby...he wouldn't be so far behind in price. Can you guys at least get on the same page before responding to me?

Can we count Yordan's arm as a third tool? It is plenty strong and I think he's more or less gotten over accuracy issues. And he does actually make a great throw every once on a while.

That’s a good point. Admittedly, it’s the name that bugs me. It’s a unique design that deserves a unique name. (i.e. not Chrome)

Ha, I guess I didn't pay enough attention to notice with the name, but you're right. It's not Chrome.

They did apparently use a new technique to make the cards, so they probably should have come up with a new name. Topps Matte would've worked fine.

This isn't the Harper thread.

72% of the games he's started in the big leagues are as a DH. He's a 2 tool player.

You chose to focus on what I thought the guys were laughing at, instead of focusing on me saying the play (that was being used to show he can play the field, lol) wasn't special. Don't shift the focus.

So is he a DH or not?

Im having a blast! You can stop responding if you want. Up to you.

Why do people care about Soto and Vlad? Those two are just as 2 tool as Yordan.

I remember buying many rookie cards of two-tool Juan Soto after the 2018 season, then again after the 2019 season. (Even after he led the Nats to the title.) I was very happy when the hobby belatedly fell in love with him.

Doesn't matter, it completely contradicted your point which is why you ignored it.

It's near 50% this year and if your argument is that being a DH is the reason why he's not an MVP candidate, then previous years are irrelevant. And the Harper point remains valid.

He clearly made the throw as Garcia was rounding third in the video. No need to argue that point when you're quite obviously wrong.

Well I guess that means Harpers out as MVP contender in the NL.

All of the "five tool" guys that are way above him are in the same class or better with the two tools. The difference in price is mostly age plus a little because their explosiveness was during the Covid Boom. Prices are already converging and will continue to do so as long as Yordan produces at their level.

That tool does not matter at all for the hobby. I mean it carried Shawon Dunston for a little while, but as soon as people figured out he couldn't hit that was it.

Ding ding ding. It's not like Acuna (.281/42 HR per 162) and Tatis (.292/48) are slouches with hit and power. Vlad (.282/35 but .298/48 since age 22) himself is basically the exact same player as Yordan (.295/44 since age 22).

Yordan is also missing hardware relative to those guys. That will change in a few weeks with his first all star appearance. If the season ended today he'd finish top 5 in the MVP voting. The only thing holding his cards back right now is the market!
