If Scherzer is actually hurt and out for a while, I’d call that a big deal. Williams, Peterson, Szapucki are all huge downgrades.

The goal should be make the playoffs (which isn't that hard anymore) with a healthy Scherzer and DeGrom and have neither with a lot of innings on their arms.

Not seeing this reported by anyone else, unless I missed it but per Jon Heyman on twitter:
“Max Scherzer does indeed have an oblique injury. That injury can have a wide variance for time missed. No official word yet but it can take a month, or more, in many cases #mets”

Yep, not good.
The hope is that Degrom can fill the void in a month, but who knows.

Degrom and Scherzer on the shelf - that is 77 million in starting pitching.

If they decide to try to get another pitcher to fill the gap, I think the name that makes the most sense would be Nathan Evoldi. I think he's attainable and I don't think he'd cost an arm and a leg like Montas or Castillo.

I don't want to complain about this season because the Mets are playing great and I'm thrilled. However, I really wish that would put together a significant winning streak. They haven't swept a team yet this season. Putting together a 7-10 game winning streak would really show a strong message of how good they really are.

^ Until Degrom and Max are back, I’m ok with them just winning series’ and not letting the rest of theEast pick up too much room on them.
When they get back, then we need some sweeps…

That was a rough loss but you live to fight another day and it looks good with Megill, May, and deGrom all progressing for a return. Let's hope that Szapucki shows us something good this afternoon.

Biggest thing for the Mets is Lindor is now hitting. Actually makes it a real lineup.

Flipping through games and landed on the Mets v. Nationals tonight.
Good lord, how can any of you listen to Keith Hernandez? This guy is literally worse than Tim McCarver. That's REALLY bad. |

Although still a fan favorite, he's becoming this generations Ralph Kiner...Gary and Ron are awesome, Keith has lost a step...or two...

In Hernandez's mind, it's still the 80s and he's doing episodes of Seinfeld.
It's the only place he's important and he's miserable about it...

I always thought having 2 guys from the 80's teams was overkill, would have liked Anthony Recker (was awesome in ST fill in role) to get some time in there from time to time to bring an updated perspective along with the old school guys...that's just me...
