Heritage has been like this for a while. I was chasing one sequence of base cards in 2017 that I absolutely could not hit in a box. It was crazy. Probably similar to what is was like in the 60s/70s

Apologies for the dumb question but can someone help explain to me between a regular base card and a flip stock?

The shinier side is on the back and the rough is on the front. I have one butt it hard to show.

Thanks for taking the time to try to explain to me. I'm looking at the two cards I have of the same player (bought from a seller who provided both versions - I'm trying to confirm that I did receive a flip stock). On the front sides of the cards, on the one that I think is the base card, the white border looks like what I consider a regular base white border and the picture color looks fairly vibrant for a paper card. On the other card that suppose to be the flip stock, the image looks slightly faded and dull...does that sound like the flip stock?

Flip stock is pretty rare. Only about 5 of each card unless they screw it up which I think happened couple years ago. Hobby only too as I remember. I could tell easily on the one I had but other years might be different.

You’ll know instantly when they’re in your hand. It’s like they turned the card around before they printed it. The rough/raw cardboard side is on the front, and the smoother glossier side is on the back.

After busting about 10 megas (both target and Walmart) and about 15-20 blaster/hangers and handful of fat packs, my best pulls were Jake Burger base auto, Clemente Venezuela, Marsh Purple Chrome Rc, and a Wander Target Red exclusive. It looks the Wander reds are significantly rarer than the red chrome if you’re going off of eBay available and sold listings. Does that sound right? And if so, should the target exclusive be priced significantly higher?

Yes- I'd think the target red is closer in PR to the Black Border base than the Red Refractors (but haven't looked at the odds). Logically, it should be but its not shiny like the other so its not

You were only opening to pull the Wander chrome superfractor?

It's a joke.... I was done with it already anyways.

But yes, having a super long shot of pulling the best card from the set always has an effect on the amount I can justify opening, if the chase card(s) are gone I am much less interested in opening the wax as the potential upside of the breaks drops way off.

Did it comes from retail or hobby?

I believe that the Bowman, Series 1, and now Heritage 1/1's have all been pulled from retail which is just insane . . .

Probably a strategic move from Topps to sell the insane print run that has come off the presses.

Many Target Heritage megas are starting to pop up in SoCal, its a tough purchase thinking its just extra regular packs of the same overprinted stuff but the Franco super was supposedly in one of them. How has everyone being doing with these?

Haven't bought any of the Target ones but I picked up a couple Wal-Mart mega boxes pretty cheap from a flipper. Just ripped my first one and it was a goodie - Ted Simmons red ink auto and a Sonny Gray mini /100. The most surprising part however was that the base cards were all in stunningly good condition - pristine edges on the backs without a hint of white or chipping.

I've opened a decent amount of Heritage this year (mostly retail with a few hobby packs sprinkled in) and for the most part everything looks like it was cut with a rusty butter knife. Did I just get lucky, or are Wal-Mart mega boxes where it's at? Sadly no Wander base in my first box, but I have another box I'll open after I cook lunch for my fiance and daughter.

I just pulled a glossy tommy edman card. The back looks slightly darker. Can't figure out what parallel it is. Was in the same pack as an autograph.

Flip stock? Does the front have the usual texture of the back and vice versa?
