Default Jeremy Pena Thread

Another player making his MLB debut who has been overshadowed a little.

Batting in the 7 spot tonight for the Astros, he's 3 for 4 with a double and a HR.

Love how they were interviewing his parents during his first major league HR. Seems like he has good flow with Tuve so far with fielding.

Yeah, this was a pretty cool moment, especially the video of his mom rising up in excitement.

Big ole grin on Dad's face too. Seems like a great little family, love to see it!

COVID and then the injury cost him being up at age 23.
Same age as Rutschman now.
If anyone was paying attention to him when he came back from injury last year, wouldn't surprise to have a monster year. BP rated him top 15 prospect in all of baseball and I believe they were the correct ranking though an outlier.

Easy on him, he's a Devils fan, we can all understand his anger.

Definitely an awesome moment. Didn’t the same thing happen with Wander?

Another good game today. Hitting second, he was 3 for 5 with a double.

Would rather not have my Sapphire auto and Speckle Autos stuck in economy purgatory, especially with one getting the dual service treatment.

Bumping this up for Pena's 10th inning walk-off home run today. Astros bats have been ice cold to start the season.

UMaine's baseball program hasn't been a hot bed for MLB prospects and he was a really good player in his time in Orono so I've been trying to scoop up his cards here and there.

He homered again tonight.

What’s the consensus on this guy? Does he have legitimate All-Star potential?

Astros looking smart on going for youth over Correa so far. Jeremy might surpass his dad's career WAR this season!

This kid looks good. The offense potential is there for sure. That HR he hit last night was not a cheap MMP poke, but a good drive. If he can stay on the field this season and keep this ice he could easily be ROY.

I'm with you on this... I try to pick up UMaine guys whenever I see them. I have a nice little collection of Mark Sweeney (who played while I was there), Mike Bordick and Bill Swift.

With Pena it's an added bonus for me being a UMaine grad living in Houston.

Anyone know what happened with his knee?

Just read he left the game to an apparent knee injury

It looked like he rounded 1st funny on his 2B. Didn't seem to hit the bag wrong or anything, started limping a little after the turn.
