Default Ebay problem with a buyer who used Ship My Cards

Has anyone ever had a problem selling cards on eBay when the buyer sent it to ship my cards? Buyer says he only received 1 of the 2 cards he ordered. He received the insert but not the base. He’s going to contact them to see if there was an error with how they uploaded. I’m going to contact them too and see if they will tell me anything. I know I shipped both cards. All he did was show me a pic of the one card uploaded on his portal. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? I’m assuming I’d lose a claim bc he’s saying he didn’t receive both cards. I wasn’t sure if since it didn’t go to him directly if maybe I was still covered? I didn’t buy insurance

I use SMC and although I've had no issues I've seen a couple of posts on FB groups etc saying people have extra cards show up in their inventory and/or cards they thought would be appearing not. It's a manual process on their end so I'd be 99.99% certain SMC have given the card to someone else by mistake. I would certainly encourage the buyer to post on the FB page for SMC asking if it has shown up in someone else's inventory. It's generally a very friendly community and things like this often get resolved. You could join the group yourself and directly message Brian Wells. They are a genuine company.

It's unfortunate reading threads like this though as it often scares aware the seller so Int'l folk like myself struggle convincing a seller to sell to them vs another US based buyer.

I also use SMC, as it allows me to buy much more for much less nowadays. I had a missing card this week too, but they were able to solve it pretty quickly.

Just as a clarification: they should have been uploaded in the same picture, as every order is uploaded in one picture. Hope it gets solved!

I just had a buyer who shipped to a COMC mailbox claim that they received a package containing "random items" and not the 2019 Prizm Luka PSA 10 Base I had sent them.

As in my case, due to the buyer shipping to a third party, I don't think they have any grounds to claim they didn't receive the item. I think the claim would need to be opened by SMC in your case on that buyer's behalf since the buyer can't prove that SMC didn't misplace the cards (or COMC in my case).

That’s what i was wondering if they’d have a leg to stand on in a claim. Sounds like probably not. So what did you end up doing for the buyer?

Nothing. They are the ones who chose to use the service not the sellers responsibility to fix it.

Using the return request they opened on ebay, I asked them if the package was opened when they received it or if it was still sealed and then asked if they could provide me with photo evidence of the claim. Still waiting to hear back from them after 3 days and I've since asked ebay to step in

I would go to facebook and message ebay to grt it closed. You should not be forced to do anything. I have had a few buyers use reshippers and try this all the claims went in my favor.

Pretty sure they'll close in my favor, but I'll give the buyer a chance to do the right thing, I've already messaged ebay so we'll see when they get back to me. OP should be in the same position and should be clear of any issues for the same reasons.

Ebay just ruled in my favor - "Purchases through third parties are not covered...buyer will need to reach out to the shipping company they used to ship their items."

Keep that in mind as protection against people who try to use these third-party shipper services as scams.

They may claim "unauthorized transaction" (a scammer favorite) instead. I had a buyer whose verified address was a freight forwarder and that's what they pulled. Seller will need to rely on PP protections as the shipping service the buyer used becomes irrelevant in that case.

Hopefully PayPal will notify me if they try to pull that, any idea if they send an email before yanking funds from my pp account?

If a buyer claims unauthorized transaction through PP there would be a notification email sent to the seller and hold in the amount of the transaction on the seller's account balance.

What I meant was buyers who use shipping services may try to scam sellers using unauthorized transaction instead of claiming lost/damaged item.

I also use SMC for all my US purchases, never had a real issue. The owner of SMC is a member here, 'bryandwells'. Shoot him a message I'm sure he'll look into it. Though it might be quicker to send him a message on FB or IG.

Have any eBay sellers shipping to SMC had any recent, 2022, problems? Buyers claiming SMC did not receive their cards? Just had my 1st buyer have me ship to them? Thanks for any info.

I have received hundreds of cards at SMC. All have been good but a couple of times they missed photoing a second card that was in the same toploader. Support request got it sorted quickly. Tell the buyer to check with SMC first.

A seller sent to my us po box (G.I.S.I) an empty buble mailer with tracking. I was denied a refund , made an appeal with picture of the empty unsealed bubble mailer and was refunded.

I wonder if this policy also applies to the eBay GSP? Am I only responsible to get the cards to Kentucky, or wherever else eBay uses as a shipping hub?

Yeah, I think that's the general policy, if ebay receives the item in KY, and they take possession of it and it doesn't make it to the buyer, I've had all those cases refunded by eBay since they "lost" the package

You are only responsible for getting the card to the domestic GSP address they provide you with on purchase by the buyer.

I use eBay GSP as a seller and you get an initial e-mail & message in your inbox to confirm that eBay have received the card at the domestic address. They then subsequently update you on delivery of the card to the buyer internationally. Once the card is received at the domestic address they provide any other issues are all on eBay. They refund the buyer and you keep your funds.

I guess the bump of this thread was good timing as I just sold a card on eBay and the buyer address is a SMC addy.

This shouldnt be an issue from what I’m reading here?

Nope.

I use SMC as I am in Australia and I have never had a problem. Every item has been received in perfect order in a timely manner!

SMC is a godsend for me, as the charges to send direct were killing me and I get to buy from a huge range of US buyers.

The head of SMC Bryan Wells is as transparent as they come and very easy to talk to. They have videos when they open packages. Just have the buyer reach out to bryan wells and also raise a ticket on their smc account.
