Best part about all three of his HRs so far? He knows the exact amount of effort he needs to put into his swing to barely deposit the ball in the left field seats / bullpen. He's not overswinging at all. Dude's in the zone.

his next at bat he hit the first pitch foul, and it made me jump how hard he crushed it. Everyone was buzzing...about a clearly foul ball. He's on it right now.

If Pujols doesn't fall off a cliff and O'Neill keeps maturing into the awesome hitter he seems to be, Arenado is snugly planted in the sweet spot of that lineup. He could easily get to the 60 HR / 120 RBI plateaus, and secure his 1st MVP.
I really like how easy the game seems to be coming to him right now. Plus, he kinda looks bad ass with the surfer hair and tan. |

That's just it though. He doesn't hit moonshots that will eventually fatigue him later on in the season. His HRs are just barely clearing the wall - and that's all you need. It really looks like he's mastered his craft, his swing, and his body to all work in sync. He makes it look effortless, and that goes a long way.

I hope he balls out this year. Give the haters no foot to stand on about Coors.

Arenado leads the NL in WAR on both Fangraphs and Baseball Reference
Should have Gold Glove #10 (in 10 years) locked down for this year Production can no longer be questioned by Coors field since he has a 167 OPS+ with a pitcher-friendly home park and virtually identical home/away splits MVP is Goldschmidt's to lose unless he falls off a cliff in September, but Nolan is pretty definitively the #2 right now. Surprised his cards haven't climbed more. Still very affordable for a top tier star when compared to other similar caliber players. |
