Double validation. I wish I could find that old GAI slab of the autographed PSA slab (or whatever other slab that was auto'd and then encapsulated by GAI, authenticating the auto on the slab)

If Topps didn't tell us we aren't allowed to bring stuff for him to sign at the Transcendent party, I would 100% be looking to take the nicest non-auto Soto slab I could find to get it autographed and then slab-sandwiched. 100%.

They told us not to do it at the Topps 70th and what do you know, dudes pulled out sharpies on the spot with Mattingly and the Guerrero’s. One guy even got the Guerrero’s to sign one of the party autographed cards a SECOND TIME… so now there are 4 copies out there with dual autographs from the same player!!

Looks short top/bottom. Or has some other alteration that makes it ineligible for a numerical grade. There’s not enough room on the flip to put “Authentic Altered” where there is also an auto grade.

It means they think the card was altered in some way...most likely trimmed.

Man, some of these graded HMT55 are falling a little flat for a couple days before the season IMO. Willing to bet it’s some of the shared hype from Witt, JRod, Tork, Franco, and others garnering some headlines. Can’t wait for the games to begin!

That's a fair point, it's not like they'd throw you out I suppose. At the Bowman party, the players were basically brought in for the Q&A, took the photos, and left (and whether or not they would have actually tried to intervene, there were half a dozen Topps folks around them the whole time). It would have been tough to even find an opportunity to ask for anything, given how quickly they were in and out.

Not necessarily, the sale frequency seems to be the same. I just think some of those who were bidding on Soto perhaps are putting more of their funds into the other guys. I figured a HMT55 refractor psa 10 would go north of $6k at this point but it died at $5200 tonight.

Was it the same one that sold for $5.3k and got relisted?

5200 is not bad. there was one for 3000 at the show last year. so its up quite a bit

I must admit the base is one of my favorite Soto cards and definitely my favorite Montgomery club card. That’s why I have 4! Ha

I won the 2018 Gold Label auto /25 that closed this morning at 1,850. I have ZERO idea if this is a good price...but the red looks super awesome in the pictures and I'm excited to see it in person. I know it'll never grade for anything, but it went for less than a Best PSA 10 base auto, and I'm pretty sure I'd rather have something with some more pizzazz.
