The fact is, more modern cards are being trimmed, in hopes of getting those elusive gem mints. All grading companies get paid to review the card, which they did, to determine they were trimmed. It stinks, but they did their job.

I've never submitted directly to PSA but don't they refund cards that don't meet their minimum size requirement? That seems preferable to what SGC seems to be doing... calling them "trimmed" and saying they won't refund "altered" cards. I don't know, I hope they work with me on this. I'm kind of afraid to send more cards in though. If it's not a modern card, will they always default to "trimmed?"

I'll update once I hear from them.

thanks
PSA has N6 for Min Siz Req and you do not get charged. They have N1 which is Evidence of Trimming and you do get charged the fee. I've gotten about 150 cards returned N6 from PSA in the last year alone on some pretty trivial cards after never getting one in 6 years. Some of them I was actually happy since they weren't worth grading after the long wait. They've never dinged me with an N1 Trimming designation and charged me, but if they did, I would be irate.

I don't know if SGC makes the same distinction...I have never even bothered to even check their website for grading.

Sounds familiar. I sent a NM-MT card to SGC (not a gem that was trimmed), after PSA gave it the N6 MIN SIZE, and SGC decided 'trimmed' and charged me $30 for the opinion. They did slab it 'A', so I got something for my money.

I hear you. I wonder if the trimming/altering scandals have made grading companies extra cautious? I'm with you on them getting paid to make determinations... they found my Unitas auto to be a counterfeit and I agree they earned their fee on that. But I can't get behind them determining that cards which are miscut or produced at a non-standard size are trimmed if they aren't actually trimmed.

Good to know on PSA. And that's pretty crazy to get that many back in a year... again, I wonder if they're hyper sensitive to undersized cards now? It does sound like PSA might be more fair at least. I'm not irate with SGC yet, but we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, that sucks. SGC might be tossing that "trimmed" around a little too casually. They offered to slab mine "A" as well.

I'm hoping to hear back from their customer service in a day or 2. I'll update with my cs experience, good or bad. I guess I've learned a lesson here.

thanks all

Waiting on one more color wheel to arrive, but these are going to SGC within the week. The population is zero for any company at last check for any of these cards, except for the spectrum SGC 10 which I own.

Nice choice, those will look amazing in a new tuxedo, regardless of the grade.

14-21 days door to door from what I have tracked.

You got charged for their opinion that it was authentic but that there was evidence of trimming. Why do you think this doesn't warrant a charge?

My cards were received by SGC on 3/18. Only 2 cards getting graded. I think I should hear something this week with them being graded?

I'm a rookie when it comes to grading and was wondering if SGC has an off-center qualifier for cards, or if it just effects the overall grade? I have a 1959 Topps card I'd like to grade with them just to have it slabbed but it's fairly off-centered.

Card in question:

No sir, SGC doesn’t use qualifiers… nobody likes qualified cards anyway tbh

No qualifiers for SGC and even PSA stopped using them in most cases. My advice is to hold off on grading until cheaper grading is here. Let PSA catch up with the backlog and once they do, we should see $15 SGC grading by the end of this year. I have a beautiful 1958 Aaron card I won't grade until I get cheaper prices. Patience is key!

Not a big SGC guy, but I'm curious about how the values break down per grade... is it safe to assume the difference between an 8.5 and 9 and greater than between a 9 and a 9.5?

I had a small 2 card that was received on March 15th and graded March 30th. I knew they wouldn't grade high but am happy with the quick turnaround as I just wanted them slabbed.

Those Kyrie rookies look great. Downtown Bound is underrated.

Has anyone submitted at the $125 service level recently? Just wondering if my card will actually get graded in two days.

I heard a recent 50 dollar sub was received on Monday, graded by Wednesday, returned on Friday

So I would expect so yes

Adding a few of my recent SGC submissions. I'm really happy with the 2014 court kings Giannis. If anyone has a sapphire /25 they are willing to part with, let me know.

Probably very few have subbed at $125. You're in good shape.

Hey guys, how does SGC treat print lines? I have an otherwise gorgeous Vlad Jr. pink chrome RC and I know PSA would knock it for the print line.

9.5, possibly 9 if the rest of the card is perfect but I’d say probably a 9.5
