Default Has BGS always had 10-point grading scale?

I have a 9.5 graded in Jan. 2004 (Quad 9.5) that I swear looks pristine, so I'm wondering if BGS introduced the Pristine 10 at some point or if it's always been around. I know the Black Label was introduced sometime around 2014.

Black label was introduced then but you could always get quad 10's. I had a Quad 10 before they had black labels.

It would have been pretty awkward for them to just decide to stop at 9.5...

Maybe an idea for yet another new grading company:

Spinal Tap Grading with a scale that goes up to 11.....
