Seems like an easy answer, but if you need to launder money you might want the NFT instead of the real one.

Seems like either works for that purpose

BO’s obsession with money laundering cracks me up

Maybe not? Highest bid now showing only 16k.

I would think the physical card would be easier to launder money with since you could buy and sell with cash and have no records

So what D-list celebrity is going to come out and claim that they bought this?

Sold for 175 ETH. About $450k+

Big and good news for MLB NFTs.

I can't wait until next week when they announce the 52 Mantle parallels!

I'm not a huge fan of the video they did. I think it is cheesey and kind of takes away from the card itself. But then again, I can't afford it so it really doesn't matter too much.

A collectible is worth as much as somebody is willing to pay for it!

2nd highest bidder (430k bid) also congratulated the winner on Twitter.

Someone who joined Twitter in August of 2021 and basically only posts about NFTs.

But it isn't a collectible if it doesn't really exist!

That’s like saying my iTunes movie purchase doesn’t exist, because it’s not on a BlueRay Disc.
In this case the NFT is even unique and has digital certificate.

To have a picture of man on a piece of cardboard or on your phone isn’t really that much of a difference …

Does it cost $25,000 for the itunes music rather than the Blue Ray?
Normally a digital copy is cheaper than something that is a physical item.

First off who uses iTunes anymore? I would be that if you had a one of one Kanye track on iTunes it would sell for more than $25k

Even though ppl have been collecting cards for over 100 years, there are some that still don't get it. Even if you explain the concept, they won't get it to the point where they think it's worth buying. That's fine.

There will be people that don't get NFTs/digital collectibles. Even if you explain the concept, they won't get it to the point where they think it's worth buying. That's fine.

The way I see it, NFTs/web3 is kinda like the wild west. No one really knows how it will turn out. Could be huge, could be a waste of time, could be something in the middle.

I think NFTs that have an accompanying utility will be worthwhile. But I could see 95% of NFTs crashing and burning.

You nailed it. All up in feels.

There’s a reason I spend a lot more time in discord than in here lately.

The communities are similar, but it always feels like the Flat Earth Society over here whenever this subject comes up. From people who pay crazy money for cardboard. Which have no utility. And not much scarcity. And can be easily counterfeited. And used for money laundering. And scams. And stolen. And lost in transit. And a myriad of other negatives given for NFTs.

I don’t care if you get it or not at this point, but I respect those still trying to help you understand this is where the hobby is going.

You don’t need to like it, but don’t cry when you’re left behind.

Left behind? How pompous. What makes you think collecting is an endeavor in which we all have to follow like a herd of sheep or lemmings to some destination?

Your precious NFTs are a way to try and make money, nothing more. Some of us have other ways we do that. And some of us don't see our collecting as a way to make money.

A Frederick Foto or Baltimore News Ruth, or a '52 Topps Mantle, these pieces don't need online evangelists or pyramid scheme-style proselytizing to make them desirable.

That’s quite a concise example of hypocrisy. Well done.

When you realize collecting and all that comes with it is an act or a behavior and is not dependent on the medium, maybe some of you guys can be “less up in your feels” at that point.

It’s fascinating how angry and judgmental some people get over how others choose to spend their money. I guess that is the state of the world right now
