I really like the idea of Bowman Chrome. Prospecting Soccer is going to be awesome!

The real question for me is whether Topps is/is not going to make more of an effort to include retired players in checklists. Obviously that requires them to pay for image rights, but retired player content is an important part of many products in other sports.

Just for starters, I would liken to see UCL Living cards of the retired players that Topps has already acquired right to.....for example Schmeichel, Baresi, Pirlo, Scholes, Iniesta, Giggs, Gerrard, Xavi, Gascoigne, Zola, Vialli, Del Piero, Drogba, etc.

And I'd really like to see them do some sort of Archives/Heritage style product using Topps/A&BC designs from the 60's/70's featuring primarily retired players (kinda like 2017 Nobility).

There are plenty of collectors out there who would love to have a product where they could pull base cards of Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Dalglish, Keegan, Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton, Platini, Matthaus, Bergkamp, Klinsmann, Henry, Zidane, etc.

Would like to see the company put out more hard-signed autograph cards. Then I am happy.

If people are happily buying sets with stickers there's no need for them to include on card due to the logistics of sending stuff around the world, dealing with redemptions etc. Only way I can see a true hard signed set is something way on the high end of tue cost spectrum and it being a every couple year type thing.

Bowman Pospect cards are a nice idea but make no sense in practice as there is no draft, farm or prospect system in football. Most of the good U21 players are already pros and in other sets.

Chrome SPFL is one hell of a niche product, curious to see what format that will take. I find an outright hobby box release hard to believe maybe something ondemand or a set like those club specials (eg Dortmund and Sociedad).

Plenty of collectors, myself included, hate sticker autos. People keep breaking all kinds of junk at stupid prices, but how many are actually collecting the “hits”? How many more people would be interested if there were on card autos?

It depends.

One of my main collections in the past few years have been Soccer autos. Not prospects but all-time greats that I grew up watching.

I mostly collect sticker autos because I can't afford on-card. Even when I've pulled them, I wouldn't have been able to afford the box if it had on card autos only.

There's a market for both, they need to save the on card autos for high-end releases.

fixed it.

it makes absolutely NO sense at all.

by the time players are playing at u21 level, there's literally no prospecting left to be done.

I definitely understand the cost aspect. But if there were more on card autos they wouldn’t be as expensive and you could buy those for the same price you’re paying now for stickers. Wouldn’t that be better?

it's a pointless release.

The talented U21 Internationals will already have a RC. Generally the rest of u21 teams are padded out with players that fill a role and not much else, and will generally have a career drifting down the league pyramid.

Take England U21 for example, if this set dropped now. The best players - Livramento, Aarons, Skipp, Jones.. all have RCs. Aarons got his in 2019. Players like Sam Greenwood for example, just dont have the talent to make it in the Premier League.

For this to make any sense, to do actual "prospecting" it would have to concentrate on schoolboy / u-17 football, and I'm not even sure that's legal.

I disagree. There are many players I would collect that don't have a card yet. Wont say their name as their price will just go stupid but u-21 football/reserve football and u-18 football have some real talented players.

The success of this set will depend on whether U-21 just means under 21 or specifically refers to guys playing at the U-21 level. Bowman MLS was so great for prospecting because few of those guys were yet playing U-21 or higher when it was released. Not sure that there is anyone currently playing on America’s U-21 team without a card already who would warrant a substantial investment.

Actually, there definitely are not because US no longer even has a U-21 team.

Amazed this is a real product but great for the fans of those clubs. Wonder if there will be autos of McCoist, they should still have some Gascoigne and Larsson autos from before.

I think I'll pick up a couple for a laugh. There's no way these are priced higher than Match Attax chrome, surely?

I assumed in reading this it would be tied to the U21 tourneys that occur, that in the past that had some unlicensed sticker sets? If so, there are many good players in the past 5-6 years who's first sticker was from those tournaments (but people don't buy them much because they are at best unlicensed and at worst just fakes). Having a legit company making licensed cards could be cool

Feels like they are trying force a soccer ball into a baseball sized process with Bowman. Are they going to have 1st Bowman instead of RC as well? Seems like this just muddies the water ever further for soccer for more arguments over rookie cards.

Would still like to see Dynasty but I guess that still presents many hurdles.

I like the idea of the U-21 set, even though it will only be for Euro championships. There will be many players who are in leagues with no trading card sets, and some players could explode years down the line. I would definitely prefer a set every two years for the U20 World Cup.

Hopefully CCV is in the SPFL set

Would like to see a CONCACAF Nations League set too along with the UEFA set, instead of 2 UEFA NL sets
