I have a modest collection that I think I could sell off enough of it to pay off my house. What would be the best way to go about this? I don’t really use eBay so I think many buyers on there would be wary of someone with minimal feedback. Also, everything I have is raw so I’m concerned the condition of everything would be subject to the horror stories everyone hears about. I have cards of every sport and non sports from the late 80s to current. It seems like the right time to sell off and plan for retirement (my goal is to retire at 50, maybe find a less stressful job to tide myself over with).
Any suggestions?

Anything regular sized (standard card sized) sellable for over $2 >>> COMC.
Maybe things over $100 to someone else. But COMC is reliable, allows for eBay auctions, will list every card you send them, etc. Just make sure to sort them yourself to determine what is actually worth sending vs. what you think is currently worth sending. They are now achieving their timelines, sales are pretty good, and cross-post to eBay. Plus, when you're ready to pull the plug on all the rest of your collection, you can sell all in one fell swoop with a Port Sale. |

Whichever decision you make, I recommend NOT sending your items to Goldin.

Depends on the mix of stuff and how much effort you want to put into it.
If you just want to get rid of everything and aren’t so worried about maximizing your return you can just sell it as a bull lot to someone who will piece it out

I would find a dealer. Who might be interested depends on what you have. Selling singles or small lots would take forever, but net you more. Selling as a bulk lot won’t get you as much, but gets the job done quickly. Time value of money is important.

From my personal experience, it's been a headache. You have no rights on how your item(s) are listed. If you send in bulk items wanting them to sell separately, they will usually combine it. The items they chose not to list, it took me 6months for them to find it and send it back to me (they literally couldn't find my items). They also lost a Topps COA for one of my cards and have been ignoring my e-mails for a while now.

Are we talking about 5,000 $100+ dollar cards to net you 400-500K? Or is this 75 cards worth 5,000 each? |

If you want to cash out at full market value. It's going to take work and time to piece everything out yourself. You'll have to try to sell on multiple platforms.
If you want to wash your hands of it all, you can try to find a dealer or lcs that is willing to buy your entire collection at once. If you go that route, you'll get 50-65% of market value if you have decent enough stuff. Depending on what you have some dealers/shops might even go up higher to 80% of comps for specific cards. It's not easy to cash out and if you do take the easy way, you'll end up paying for not having to do the work. Sent from my SM-A326U using Tapatalk

I would just send it all to a consignor or maybe use multiple ones.
Send some to PC Sports, DC Sports, Wharf, MC & ricky bobby probstien. |

My only suggestion is to always sell the cheap ones first. Everything $100+ can wait.

5% for every sale and then 10% if you request a paypal payout or check.

Yeah they want you to keep the money on the platform and the CEO openly admits that.
I love COMC....I use it to sell stuff I don't want and pick up stuff I like. There are lot of cards that if you listed on Ebay may not even get a bid at $1 but if you leave on COMC for a few months you can get $10-20. |

I’ve used most of the usual suspects over the years… eBay, Heritage, PWCC, Goldin, COMC, etc. I’ve had good experiences and bad. Worst overall was eBay, had to finally stop selling there. Best overall has been PWCC as I’ve been doing really well with their weekly auctions and monthly premier. If it’s raw cards, you could always dump them with Rick.

I've sold thousands of cards on COMC from low to upper-middle-end. It's definitely the easiest, one stop shopping, 15% fees, can take offers if you want, can have them list on eBay if you want [and Amazon iirc]. My avg sale price was $15-20 but some went for a few hundred or more.
Stuff over $1k I wouldn't put on there, might be easiest to consign, sell at a show or even a local dealer who buys. But as others have noted if you want a dealer to buy your whole collection and sell it themselves, you'll take a sizable discount. I've found at shows if you have desirable cards you can get 70-75% of eBay in cash, which isn't bad for a no-risk transaction, no shipping et al. Really desirable stuff you can get 80%+.

Then i'd move on to the higher end stuff one by one on other platforms or in person if possible.

Another option could be to hit up a Dallas show as a dealer. It may cost a few hundred with airfare, but could be worth it if you’re able to sell a lot of your collection. I think Burbank is having a big show in August if you’re on the west coast near California.

I might send a bulk lot off to COMC to sell then. Seems stuff sub $100 is the way to go. Been sending a couple of lots to probstein but it's fairly inconsistent. Solid tips for all.
