I’m thinking about selling the 6 boxes I bought on pre sale and buying e pack instead. After the skunkery I got in the 6 physical boxes of x men and the quality of pulls I saw when people buy in packs of 4 or 5.

Not a bad idea, also multiples can be used to upgrade cards on epack. And you can also trade off multiples you don't want. I've an X-men box in the closet filled with doubles and triples from 3 different boxes.

I dunno, one of the super annoying things about X-Men on ePack is that it is over $20 a pack for only 2 physical cards.

I find it worse than super annoying.
I mean, why wouldn't someone just buy physical box/case/whatever and get 100% physical cards, instead of 66% of them being 'virtual'.

Aren’t physical boxes creeping up to $500? An epack box is $250. There’s your answer. Also easier to trade on epack.

Agreed on the virtual cards, makes physical more appealing at least on that aspect. Also have to be careful about sample bias with the monsters being posted on here in 4 packs…people generally don’t post the duds, so wouldn’t immediately conclude epack is stacked.

Do we know epack for this will be in the 250 range yet?

I was responding to the post on how X% of cards on epack are virtual. My point is if you wanted to buy a physical box of X-men, it would run close to $500 whereas an epack box is about half that at $250 a box. Feels like Upper Deck tries to get close to market price when the product hits epack and keeps it there even if physical continues to move north.

And I also believe that epack is no more stacked than physical. Epack is scary as hell. I feel a lot of people lose track of how much they've spent pretty quickly. It's almost too easy to buy through epack.

Oh gotcha, yea fair point about the x-men metal box price discrepancy.

One might ask why such a discrepancy, and I think it has a lot to do with people are buying up x-men metal boxes to save sealed for long term (look at sealed prices for some of these earlier sets like Ultra Spiderman and retro, but then again, people werent hoarding those sealed and they are now scarce). This is one thing you cant do with an epack box.

I didn't realize the prices were that different

and I would suppose instant gratification plays a part too

The "epacks vs physical" debate has been going on since the broad public first was exposed to it in 2016. Lots of reasons on both sides. Plenty of posts for you to research

Looks like online retailers are starting to pull the product for preorder. Sense this is gonna have a high price tag once it releases.

It will be interesting to see what happens to PMG prices once these are out. There are going to be a lot more Spidey PMGs on the market.

No offense to anyone who pulled one from X-Men Metal but the design of those and this Spidey set look like crap.

Look at the example of Silk on the Cardboard Connection site; split that card into quadrants, upper-left is spoiled by the Skybox logo, upper-right is a mess with the character name which could have been put toward the bottom of the card, and then they print Precious Metal Gems so that it partially covers the character.

Nobody with any graphic design experience had input with these?

I actually don't mind the Silk that much -- I can see how it could be improved.

A lot of the FUSM Metal cards and PMGs look bad to me:

I like how all of Spidey's limbs are cut off, we do get a thumb though so that is great. Nice armpit shot, and a knee -- sweet.

The highlight though is the foil explosion at Spidey's crotch.

If I recall, the actual release of the physical X-men product wasn’t postponed like the spidey metal set has been. Spider-Man was supposed to drop in the 1st week of January, now it’s the end of March. I’m glad they released X-men first, hopefully they worked out all the QC issues. I’ve only seen one or 2 psa-10 X-men cards.

Yeah its unfortunate. Even if they wanted to stick with reused comic art, there are tons of amazing images to pick from. There shouldn't be any excuse for close cropped images and sketchy art. That Stryfe base card is a perfect example. I hope this set has better design and images overall.

Default 2022 Spidey Metal

The skyscraper shadowbox insert is a neat idea, the one on the sell sheet looks great.

I’m curious what the high number base Spider-Man will look like. In X-Men, it’s an old version taken from comics, in some cases (but not all) the image taken from the first comic cover appearance. Can you imagine if they go with Spidey’s iconic image from Amazing Fantasy 15? A red or green PMG of that would be pretty crazy.

I agree completely. We need to push back on upper deck when they put out bad products, or they will just keep doing it.

I have a feeling the price for this will be around $299.99 a box/$24.99 a pack.

This continual push back of Spidey Metal has me wondering about Marvel Masterpieces. I havent heard a single peep about the next MM set despite this being an even number year- makes me think it wont be releasing this year.
