so Rams it is!
49ers opened up as underdogs, which i'm kind of surprised, especially with the recent success against the Rams, but that's fine, we'll take it. the 49ers match up really well with the Rams. it's a scary game though, i honestly wanted Tampa because i think we would have beaten them pretty easily, but the Rams are obviously going to present problems. but again...these 49ers are playing with house money. it's been such a crazy ride. Down 17-0 in a must win game against the Rams, down 7, 88 yards to go with no timeouts to tie the game in the 4th quarter, then a win in OT, on the road to beat Dallas and their fantasy football offense, then on the road to beat the Packers who were "destined to win a SB this year", in the cold, having to hear about Rodgers all week and how California teams can't win in Lambeau in December and January, yada yada yada...and now it's back to Cali against the Rams, for the right to play in the Super Bowl. no matter what happens, it's been a heck of a ride. we weren't even supposed to be here after that 3-5 start, and yet we're one of two teams left playing in the conference. Jimmy has gotten that Patriots and 5-0 49ers swag back, and these boys are really playing hard for him too. we believe we can win. we believe in Jimmy. that undefeated swag is back, and it's powerful. and i'm not a "it's our destiny" person either, especially before something happens, that's the kind of talk after a season is over and you've won it all. then you can look back and say this and this, that and that. i remember the 1996 Jaguars going on the road and ending the Bills dynasty, then beating the #1 Broncos, only to fall to the Patriots. But i've also seen the 2007 Giants go on the road and win in Tampa, Dallas, and Green Bay....so it is what it is. this season has been a success, no matter what happens on Sunday. but again...this team is playing with house money. let's go!!!!!!!

Don’t like having to beat a team a third time in a season but Jimmy is overdue for a good game and the D is peaking. Hope Ambry Thomas is a go.

You’ve got one team thinking about how they are going to win a third time versus a team thinking how they are not going to lose a third time. But I’ll take the house money versus the pressure of “we didn’t mortgage the future to not even make it to the Super Bowl”.

Let's do this. We need two great games from Jimmy G. Gotta have a healthy defense. Defense wins championships!

I’m sick of hearing they are playing with house money, bunch of BS!
I don’t think any 49ers are sitting there thinking about it that way and watching them play they deserve to be here. They are 9-2 the last 11 games and when the playoffs started every analyst said to watch out for the Niners. They are legit at this point and given they beat the RAMS twice this year I guarantee you if they lose tomorrow no one will be satisfied and just say “oh well, it was house money”. GO NINERS!!! Just my two cents, not intended to ruffle feathers just pointing out this team is legit.

They were also a top 4 team in the pre season power rankings until injuries hampered their season.

it means they have no pressure, and yes, it's a very real thing. this is a team that wasn't even supposed to make the playoffs after being 3-5 at one point this season, with the Rams coming into town on a Monday night with Odell Beckham Jr. just added. this is a team that lost to the Cardinals 2nd string team at home, 31-17. this is a team that scored 23 points in the 1st half against Seattle, and was then shutout and lost inside the 5-yard line. this was a team that should have blown out Tennessee on a Thursday night, and lost instead 20-17. this was a team down 17-0, on the road, to the Rams, the #2 seed at that time. this was a team, down 7, having to go 88 yards in under 90 seconds without a timeout, just to tie the game, with Jimmy Garoppolo, a QB who ESPN's Mina Kimes said "didn't do any of the work, but got all the credit". yes, house money is real. and that's what this team is playing with. Dallas had all the pressure to win because of their fantasy football offense and their supposed 1985 Bears defense with Parsons and Diggs...and they lost. GB had all the pressure to win because this was the best Packers team to come Rodgers had. They were the 1st seed, Rodgers is going to win MVP, California teams don't win in Lambeau in freezing tempatures, let alone with a QB named Garoppolo...and they lost. The Rams have all the pressure right now to win. They mortgaged so much of their future on picks to win right now. they haven't and don't have a 1st round pick until 2024. their 1st pick in the next draft...is a 3rd round pick. they got a new stadium. las vegas has them favored. the media is picking them. i saw GMFB today, they all picked the Rams. even Peter Schrager picked the Rams to win (when he picked the 49ers to beat Dallas and GB) that's house money gentleman. and the 49ers are playing with it. moving Deebo to running back. riding with Jimmy after the 3-5 start, and then going back to him despite the injured thumb. finally trying to do quick fixes at CB and let Ambry Thomas play football. letting Jennings play so he could develop into a solid #3 WR. trusting Compton at tackle despite having some rough games against Seattle and GB. we'll see what happens tomorrow, but i believe the 49ers are going to beat the Rams. belief is a powerful thing, and not all teams have it. when that doubt creeps in, that's when you lose. it's why KC is looking at a 3rd straight Super Bowl, and why Cincy feels good about tomorrow. it's why the NY Giants were able to do what no team could do to the Patriots in 2007, despite being the #5 seed and having to win at Tampa, Dallas, and GB, the (#4, 1, and 2 seeds). house money. Let's go!!!!

I guarantee Lynch and Co are feeling pressure to win and validate their existence. And to be honest it could be MORE given their piss poor start. I also guarantee they are feeling the pressure of upcoming decisions with Jimmy and Lance, and those decisions need to work out given what they gave up to get Lance who was totally unproven from NDSU. When you give up significant draft capital to move up to take a player like Lance and impact future picks it better work.
I think many perceive this as being stress and care free game, but I don’t think that’s truly the case. It’s now been a few years to build this team up, and all those decisions need to work out. So yeah, house $ I’m not buying it at all. Even you said with the very first post the HC sucks and the pressure is on. I don’t think that pressure is gone. That being said, we’re on the same team and I’m hoping for a big win!! Quote:

Lol, keep telling yourself that so you’re not disappointed if they don’t win the SB. I don’t think anyone in a championship game is playing with “house $” no matter how bad they started the season. Maybe you don’t know what the term means, or you’re just choosing to be ignorant. I’d say the Jags were playing with “house $” when they beat the Colts in week 18. It’s basically when it doesn’t matter if you win or lose because none of your own capitol is at stake. Even then, I’m sure some players felt pride was at stake.
Couldn’t be further from the truth in the current situation. I agree with Gusto. Lynch and Shanny are definitely feeling the pressure and expect to win with the team they have. If they were really playing with “house $,” then start Lance at QB instead of Jim. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Grats on the great season and exceeding all expectations.
But Jimmy G is still garbage.

Yeah. Watching Jimmy is just frustrating. I can't believe the Pats wanted to keep him over Tom. Really? Also, the 49ers had a chance to dump him for Tom as well and decided to stick with him. So many chances wasted.

For real, nobody knows until we see two seasons worth of play from Trey Lance. Jimmy G had his chances and now it's next man up.
As for this game, jeez, some of those throws were atrocious. After Jalen dropped that easy INT, I knew what QB we were getting and that last throw showed it. I get he was trying to make a play but make it quickly, not standing around attempting to avoid 2 FHOF pass rushers.

I know the "house money" thing has been talked about a lot.
I disagree that the Niners were playing with house money. I was playing with "house money" with my expectations, or so I thought. As always, it stings, but I appreciated the improbable run from the brink of playoff elimination in that final reg season game.

heartbroken...just heartbroken.
i'll be honest, the moment Kittle scored that touchdown, i knew we were going to lose this game. i had flashbacks to Vernon's TD against the Giants back in 2011 that put us up, and we lost that game. credit to the Rams and their coaching staff, they outplayed us today, especially in that 4th quarter. as for Kyle, he'll get another "he blew a 4th quarter lead" on his resume. his last two playoff losses, the 49ers were up 10 in the 4th quarter and then completely melted, and have been outscored 34-0. i hope he wins a SB one day with this team, because he's built a very good football team. for JimmyG, thank you for the memories. for giving us a QB finally after a year of CJ Beathard and Brian Hoyer. but you're done as the QB of this team. it's on to Trey Lance! the farther you get into the playoffs, the bigger the smile you have at the end of the day, or the more brokenhearted you are at the end of the day. that's the beauty of this game. i'm a football coach, i've experienced both the thrill of winning and losing. congrats to the 49ers on making an improbable run throughout the playoffs. that come back win in Week 18, going on the road and winning in Dallas, then going to GB and winning, and being up 10 on the road in LA and Garoppolo playing flawless. i wish we had won this game, to silence the critics that constantly tear apart JimmyG. but perhaps he is whatever everybody always said he was, another Danny White. another Romo. another Brodie- a good QB who can't win the big one. i hope he does, but it won't be with the 49ers. this team is good, but we need to make some fixes to our patchwork secondary and fix the right side of the o-line. what a shame, what heartbreak. i felt so confident about the Cowboys and Packers, i knew we would win those games, i didn't have the same feeling about the Rams, just because they know us so well. i'm happy for Stafford, the dude went through so much in Detroit, and to see him playing in a Super Bowl is awesome (remember i'm a Lions fan right? ) i will say no more on this thread. Go Niners! thank you for the ride.

Honestly give props to St. Louis O-line, basically gave up 2 meaningless sacks all game. Game was much closer than it should of been. Jimmy G got extremely lucky to have not thrown 3+ picks. Team was just confusing all year. Like I don't even know how they got this far. Secondary was never good, guys like Kupp, Adams (until they doubled him), etc. just do whatever they want on the field. I mean Stafford was just staring down Kupp most of the game and they just can't cover guys 1 on 1 or in zone. Just sucks because a couple of these teams they have had could of won the SB with a competent QB. Just shows, no matter what pieces you have, you have to have a QB. Honestly no very excited for Lance, he's so raw, some of these guys are going to lose their best playing years until he either pans out or bombs out.
