Does that mean a group of angry mob people should be spitting and shouting they should die absolutely not. I posted a recap of the show on my IG and what I have experienced the last few big shows is a whole culture shift in the hobby. Money and big money is involved and the scene has turned into a business not a hobby. The overall vibe of the show was very business minded and that is fine but we all need to make sure we are treating each other with respect and honesty. This is not sustainable if everyone is trying to make as much as quick as possible. Play the long game for success.
Dang, that's rough.

When i first got back into the hobby and knew very little I sold some cards to a dealer I remembered from when i used to go to shows as a kid. He wasn't able to look up comps as wifi/service wasn't really working at the venue and neither was I. He paid what he thought he should and a number I thought seemed fair. Later during the show when i passed by his table he told me he did see comps and had messed up and paid too much. I offered to make it right but he refused and said I could take care of him on the next deal.

After I left the show I checked comps and he was right, he had overpaid by maybe 50%, so i texted him and asked for his paypal, but he refused and said to just take care of him next time. You better believe I sought him out at the next show I attended and he was the first table I stopped at to make a deal. I made sure to go above and beyond to make things right.

You treat people well and they will want to treat you well. This goes for anything in life and anyone who plans to be in this hobby for the long haul should know this.

Sorry you had to deal with this, but the bright side is it does seem like it was a good teaching moment for your son.

It still amazes me how many people record other peoples business nowadays. I'Ve seen accidents where people are hurt and there they are people filming it on their phones instead of helping....It just amazes me how low society has gotten to be the first to post something online.

I enjoyed my first show in Dallas last year and was planning on grinch at this one but things came up. I bought a few things and sold a lot. 100% of what I sold I pulled and graded. The subs were paid for by subs so everything was profit and made it easier to work with the dealers. I have sense bought from one of the dealers at another show. My experience was good. I gauge the friendliness of a dealer before I even consider doing a transaction. Customer service is everything. Also, I don’t immediately ask if the person is buying. I will likely only ask if I am inteeested in something.

Yes. People think technology and being modern is advancing society. Everything is crazier than decades ago. It is going down hill really fast.

Agreed. Social media has made everything infinitely worse. Every a$$hole has an opinion now, and can post whatever and whenever they want, everything is "racist" now, I used to have to go to school to get bullied, now cyber bullying is a thing. Covid has brought out the definite worst in people, I mean some of its sort of entertaining but it gets old.

Tech and social media are not necessarily a bad thing. They have brought a lot of good in terms of spreading knowledge and information. Even having proof and visibility is good. But if the platforms are used to promote nonsense, misinformation and propaganda, we see the negative impact of using such tools to promote such purpose.

Just do a better more diligent job of consuming the knowledge and positive attributes and filter the garbage out.

People have always been stupid and had stupid opinions.

Social media just gives them a platform.

Going to a modern kard show is basically akin to attending a Sneakercon/Lil Xan concert.

I'm all for it.

My kid is in first grade and they have to teach them about cyber bullying in school at 6 years old now. The world is out of control. In my day you went to school and got bullied all day and then went home and went about your life until the next day. Now you get bullied 24x7. Thanks internet!

Another thing was I was looking to see if Meelypops decided to show up. Of course, they were not there (I'm sure they were planning to be there as I saw a large area of empty tables...must be their spot!).

I don't know when this show started, but man, this is an AWESOME show! I don't even know what to say. This show has everything you would ever want in a show...vintage, modern, graded, raw, bargains bins, BGS doing RCR/take home, FOUR separate rooms filled with dealers, and the list goes on! Wow!

This is my 4th I think (I lost count!) Dallas show and everything has been bangin'

Here is the recap:

* Friday was pretty light in traffic. I actually did not buy anything (just didn't see anything that I liked card/price wise).

* Today was the complete opposite. The bargain bins were amazing...filled with goodies.

* Today was FREAKING COLD!!!!

* The crowd was light in the morning (that's when I did most of my bargain bin damage), but picked up throughout the day. It was crowded, but never overwhelming.

* Overheard someone say that this could be a super-spreader event! lol!

* I noticed that there were lots of dealers who bought out collections, and are setting up for the first time looking to unload them with $1, $5, $10 boxes. They were making good money! They were happy!

* A few people rolling around carts filled with their retail stuff trying to unload.

* Kids were everywhere; kids trying to make deals; just kids learning the hobby. Very cool to see!

* As for the bargain bins, you gotta make the effort to take the time to look at them. MOST are junk, but man, if you find a dealer willing to unload and you find some goodies, that's the best combination. These dealers are ready to make deals and I love it!

* At least 3 TV's going rolling as people were watching the Raiders/Bengals game and cheering! Great atmosphere!

My favorite bargain bin pickup was a T-Mac 1998 Skybox Molten Metal Fusion for $3! I checked the card out and it looks mint+! Could be gem!

In total, I spent $232 and the ebay value for these cards are probably around $700ish? Could be more as I will sending some of them to PSA. These cards ARE worth the Regular rate of $100!

Anyway, that's all from me. Heading down to Austin and San Antonio for the rest of the weekend + holiday Monday.

Another great experience!
Can we see pictures of your pick-ups somewhere?
Seems that you did great.

Yes. I like the shows where most of the attendees are middle aged guys who you'd see catching a game at a bar.

If they are rockin' their fresh Yees and their pelican case has supreme logos, it makes me very sad.

Youtube guy talked with Mike Baker, who confirmed he graded the Mike Baker Authenticated Jordan Fleers earlier that day at the Dallas Show. Same scammers arrested are now linked to 5 different shows (NVx2, FL, PA, TX) passing bad slabbed cards.

Just to be clear, the Jordan's were real. The only fake card is the Brady, right?

Yes, it seems part of their scam was folding fake slabbed cards along with real cards into cash/trade situations, to hide counterfeits among good cards.

There is not a list of all the fake cards they passed, but it seems like they passed multiple fake slabbed Bradys, maybe with the same cert number at each show to spread them around and hope they wouldn't get figured out until they flew away. Since they were at 5 different shows in four states (that we know of), that's going across state lines and would make the case Federal. This may get very interesting.

Interesting...the Jordan's were so good that they scanned on the PSA app (says Jawad)...? That's impressive to do!

Dealers gotta be on the lookout for sure and with these trade nights, LOTS AND LOTS of kids there with $10K+ cards...seems like an easy target to me...sad.

The Jordans I'm talking about were the Mike Baker authenticated RCR cards traded along with the Brady PSA in the Dallas deal. I was not aware of any PSA Jordan ones in the deals. We may want to start piecing together each of the scam trades these guys made across the country for clarity sake.

It’s just a barcode. Nothing special. Has been the case for a long time. Personally, I would not touch a known faked card in a PSA slab at a show that wasn’t from the current or previous generation.

The ones that Jawad showed in the video looked really good from a distance...I guess you have to feel the texture of the case to know it's fake?

Thanks; I remember seeing that thread early on, but did not know it was related to this recent continuing scam.

Also, is this what the Genamint software was supposed to put an end to at PSA? On a mass produced card like a 1986 Fleer, maybe they need to do a better job.
