Having everything on ONE exchange.
Everything, for the most part, was just on eBay a couple of year ago and now I have to constantly toggle back and forth between ebay, goldin, pwcc, onlyAlt, heritage, etc etc etc. I hear the card ladder team was going to design a function that allowed the user to keep tabs on all new listings across all the platforms with notifications similar to what ebay does. Hope they do so asap! That by itself would make me finally sign up for their service and i would gladly pay 5x their monthly fee. |

Retail cracking = basketball football
Hobby cracking = hockey baseball But even retail is so bad to crack with the current state of singles. |

Agree 100 percent! Exquisite cases were $1500. If you hit a magic or Bird auto (maybe $200-300) you re happy, people re high fiving you) if you hit a kobe or lebron ($500-600) you consider the case a winner! If you hit Mj (800-1000) you re in heaven. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I concur with the reasonable prices! It got me buying Hoops brand again with Panini in 2011-12 while pulling a Kobe auto sticker all-star.

I just posted in the other thread, but for me it's in-person autographs. The level of fame, and money, and security, and privacy these athletes have these days is different. Plus pleople are batshit crazy and social media has turned a private encounter into likes. Plus COVID and literally not being able to interact at all. I feel sorry for kids these days.

Buying 2006-07 hobby boxes for cheap, and then buying 2013-14 hobby boxes for cheap. I used to casually add a 13-14 Prizm box onto orders just to get free shipping.

I miss.. sports cards being affordable. From singles to wax. Nowadays, only a handful can open wax. Even with a bad rookie crop, prices are still high, the risk doesnt equate to reward if you open wax. Atleast Exquisite, then, had MJ and LBJ Autos..

Reading these comments brought back memories of going into Walmart and finding $70 hobby basketball boxes on sale for $35. Also, I miss competition amongst companies. Now it’s just Panini using ideas from current or defunct companies.

I'm enjoying what I do now and focusing on only getting cards i really like and getting rid of everything else.
Having owned a small LCS in the 90s and ending up with an attic of junk, now I want one safety deposit box of great cards and a couple shoeboxes of nice graded vintage. Still, I miss opening cheap boxes and building sets with the kid. I'd love to be able to buy some $30-40 boxes with ALL the covid 10-day players in it and building that set for fun. But not paying $10k to do it. Heck, I miss selling drink bottles for a nickel each and buying a pack for 10 cents just to see who was in there. It would be fun today to impulsively buy a $2 pack at the gas station. But the hobby is versatile enough that you can do it however you want except cheaply.

Absolutely this is how I feel. Although of all the cases I ripped with guaranteed hits still amazed I never pulled a UD Russell or Kobe.
And you could still get Mega Boxes on sale of the Luka/Trae class as late as the following November online [and probably in person]. Crazy to think about now.

Upper deck and licensed jordan stuff.
Miss the hobby when it was more of a niche pastime. |

I miss to be able to open wax for cheap, but its ok. You appreciate packs you open nowadays more than before when you are able to get it or afford it. Other than that I like how much people are into this hobby than before. Even my little bro got into basketball cards after 25 years of not collecting. We are going to shows now for the first time since we were kids. This type of excitement and bond is priceless for me.

Same as most collectors in here - miss busting open hobby wax in volume.

I miss when people use to post positive feedback and say:
(insert user name) getsallthesteals........ It was such a simpler time back then.......
