Both need bought at some point. I doubt we’ll see a time where all the /250 autos are gone and people then realize…”hmmm, maybe I’ll buy a nice /999 refractor instead, they’re still only $5 bucks!” |

One day, people will disrespect Jordan and his era, just like you are trying to disrespect Wilt and his. Just because you didn't watch a player doesn't mean you can't learn the history of the game. |

I personally don’t care how much LeBron’s Topps Chrome RC goes up or down. It’s really not as serious as a lot of people are making it out to be. If you got in before the boom, then you are set. If you got in after, you still have what you wanted. It’s all about personal preference. Back in 2003 I thought it was a nice card and still do today. There are a lot of stuff people collect in this hobby that I can’t relate to, but I don’t look to find ways to trash it. I just move on with life. As a collector, with the way the market has pushed me out, I don’t see how any collector would want to see it drop unless you want to buy in.

As for discounting (not disrespecting) because of era, *for doing cross-era comparisons in a GOAT debate*, I think that's only fair and wise. I was first introduced to that idea in Bill James' 2nd Historical Baseball Abstract ca. 2001. For purposes of all-time rankings he had to do that because otherwise the list is filled up with old-timers at the top. So yeah, I'll discount *for that purpose* Russell's 11 rings as well. They're still 11 rings, but no one can possibly take home 11 rings in today's game. Just as no one can possibly score 100 points in a game today; the max appears to be around 81. (Well, I guess if you had KD against nothing but covid-scrubs it *might* be done, and then rightly discounted.) And Kobe's 81 is how many seasons ago now, and what's the closest anyone has come in that time? No one's averaging 50 PPG a season, or 25 RPG, etc., in this era. Your defensiveness won't change those facts. Now, everyone go watch that GOAT series, all 8 high-production-value videos, have fun, and report back.
