I opened 49 of the 59 boxes that I received (55 from Topps and 4 from eBay). Successful enough on those to keep the last 10 sealed to see what happens.

Not what I wanted to see!! I was looking for every excuse to rip all of mine and chase the big cards but if these are consistently $90 or above I would be a fool not to sell when they come in.

I opened 5 from Topps and all had more than $50 value and 3 of 5 had $125+ value. I’d recommend not selling at $90 with fees and shipping. If you ordered a lot, then I can’t blame you if you wanted to cover some costs though.

Opened three of my boxes. As per usual, when my girls ripped, one hit a Red Jeter All-Time /5 and one hit an orange Judge /25. When I opened one, I got a base Julio Franco. I don't even know why I bother. lol

Just pulled a Mike Trout auto redemption. Should I try to scratch the code? Or should I sell the redemption? I would like the card, but I'm afraid of not being able to read the code

That's a very real problem. I suck with the Topps codes. You can send in the damaged one, but I'm still trying to get them to accept one from a few months.

I got a Kelenic Gold auto in Topps Rookie Cup which I wanted to redeem and marinate to see how he does this year. I took it slow and deliberate with a credit card and still rubbed a few digits raw. I was able to finally get the correct code, but it took about 50 tries since there were 3 digits that were question marks. The printers really screwed Rookie Cup redemption cards up....not sure about any other releases.

I pulled an Andrew Vaughn redemption. I used the edge of a top loader and very gently scratched it off. That worked perfectly for me.

I ripped apart a yelich using a penny a week or so ago.....careful.....these are somewhat fragile for some reason?

That is a beautiful card. I'm still half kicking myself for skipping this one, but have been able to pick up the singles I wanted for less than what I would have spent on boxes so it's not all bad. This thread is a bit hard to visit everday right now. As an aside, I'm looking for a black Ian Anderson parallel if anyone gets one. Doing a mini-rainbow minus the 1/1.

Edit: I didn't see the damage and thought you were being serious with the Thanks Topps. That is horrible! I'd be super upset if I pulled that as Andruw's a favorite as a Braves fan.

Memberships were on sale in November. Came and went very quickly, as it does every year. Renewals were $300ish. New memberships were $600ish.

Probably the only way you will get a membership next year is if it is worthless or you see it the second it becomes available. That's how quick they sold out this year. So far it looks like you won't be missing much.

It's funny because the 2021 Montgomery Club had more value from product released just in 2020 than the 2022 membership will have for the entire 1 year of the membership. So far on the 2022 membership it is a lose if you bought anything. Not even accounting for the membership fee of course. Because of the item limits and shipping fees on the club boxes of All Star Cup versus the boxes you coulda bought as many as you wanted with lower shipping fees per box public sale. You had days to buy them on the publix sale so no one can say they wouldn't have seen it or had enough time to buy. In 2021, the 2022 membership was worth either $0 or negative money. In 2020, the 2021 membership was worth several times the membership fee.

Most of 2021, a bunch of items that were easy to get from Topps on the public sale you could order more than the Montgomery Club sale. So you end up paying more per box from MC than the public sale orders.

Exactly right. I am a first time member and -600 in the hole on it right now. No reason to renew for next year yet as I see it. And it so far looks like a sucker trap.
