Default Which cards do you regret selling?

For me it easily my McDavid 2015 Ultimate Retro RPA /15 that I let go for a measly $750 when the product came out.

Wouldn’t mind having that 2015 Ultimate Panarin Rookie Shield Auto either.

I shudder to think of all the Mcdavid YGs I traded for peanuts on epack.

Then to 2016 I am happy I got rid of my Laine stash but maybe not the 20-some Auston YG BGS 9.5s.

Those were the days eh

Mine would have to be the McDavid retro auto I hit a few years back for hockey… but overall there is a laundry list lol…. Mahomes NT Rookie Hats off Tag auto /3, the Josh Allen hats off /3 or the Red Luka prizm, Ohtani Bowman Atomic Rookie auto, Luka Kaboom, Giannis prizm rookies… All for under $1000 each

This is the real answer. To add to that, I sold off probably 85% of my Jagr collection a few months before Covid. Cards I couldn't sell for a year on COMC for $80 are now going for $350. His market has gone crazy.

I broke a ton of boxes in 2005-06, chasing Crosby. I never really pulled much of him, but Ovechkin followed me everywhere. I had 6-7 YGs, 3 SPA FW, an Ultimate RC, a SPx and tons of Beehive. I sold all of it the next year when I had my first kid on the way, well except the Beehive, I have a whole binder of the regular and reds and blues.

A Brett Hull auto /15 from UD Masterpieces 14-15. I got some nice money for it and it went to a serious masterset builder, but still!

Ovechkin Young Guns BGS with four straight 9 grades. Sent it in myself and have no clue why I decided to sell it soon after pulling it. I think I got $90 for it back then. It's probably way out of my price range forever now. Sigh

Mine was a
BVG 2.5 0-Pee-Chee Gretzky...

The corners, edges and surface were great - but terribly OC from left to right.....

Great time to buy Kovy now though. Hobby has almost forgotten about him. My preference was always the Premier RC. Stunning card.

I very rarely regret selling a card. If I’m selling something it’s to consolidate and help fund something even better. If I do feel a bit of remorse all I need to do is look at the card I bought with the proceeds and it always validates the decision.

I am a Leafs fan, and had a BGS 9.5 true gem Auston Matthews Young Gun that I sold before the start of his Rocket winning season. The money went towards a Bobby Orr rookie that is now my favorite card in my entire collection. Matthews went on to light it up all season and his YG price went straight up and I don’t regret it one bit. Had I not sold that card I would have fallen short of affording the Orr. When given the choice between a Matthews YG and an Orr rookie I take the Orr every single time.

As long as you are selling a card to upgrade your PC and you make good decisions on the things you buy it’s much easier to move on from nice cards and not have regrets.

I moved a couple Crosby YG's like 10 years ago that obviously I wish I had held onto.

It's not hockey, but I was building a master set of the first Iron Man movie back in 2010 or so, when the set first came out. Part of that was the RDJ auto, which I gleefully picked up at the time for $180 or so. I got bored with the set months later and split it up. Someone offered me $250 for the RDJ auto. I thought sure, $70 profit for a few months of sitting in a box, why not.

Now it goes for... much, much more.

About 3 years ago I bought a Gretzky OPC rookie, BGS 6 for $650.
Sold it a year later for $1,100 and thought the buyer was nuts.......

LOL I have a similar story. Had a ‘67 Orr PSA 7 that I bought for like $300. It went for auction for $900 and I was sure it was shilled or would get returned. Now that guy looks like a genius.

Dead centered PSA 9 OPC Gretzky for $2500cdn shipped when that was high market price. Was suppose to keep that one long term. At least the oil drop was a little off lol.
