Got home this morning around 11:30. This is the first time I have been online since. I have been working on sorting and organizing 4 binders and 5 3-row boxes of new stuff I brought home. All of the cards in the binders have been pulled and the basketball and football have been completely sorted. The baseball will take some time.

I'm pretty sure I'm glad I'm not sitting at school with my wife right now because she is meeting with my Son's teacher (again) and after what he told me and his counselor yesterday and the things he has been telling me for the last month, you would need the police resource officer to restrain me.

So yesterday he had two incidents with her. First, he handed in the absence note my wife wrote about Friday. Apparently she said he wasn't feeling well so it could be excused. For some unknown reason, the teacher after reading the note, asked him why he was absent. He didn't want to lie (can't blame him for that) and told her the truth. She then told him he would receive zeros for all his work on Friday instead of being allowed to make it up (like every time in the past any of our kids have been absent; excused or not).

Then he took a math test. He handed it in and as she graded it (he did pretty bad), she accused him of cheating. Well if he did, he cheated off a complete idiot. He has been struggling in Math, Reading, and Writing since the pandemic started and has regressed due to the policies put in place. She was going to make him sit on a bench inside the classroom and redo the test today in front of the whole class.

Needless to say, he was pretty depressed when I picked him up and he doesn't want to go to school anymore. At least he opened up to his counselor about it last night during his session with him after I mentioned it.

Every time my wife writes something to his teacher, she calls him out in class about it. His nose was running a few weeks ago due to allergies and after giving him a tissue, she asked him if he was over being emotional.

I think I wrote about the BS of him having no lunch that one day. My wife finally showed me the BS e-mail the teacher sent her back. She claimed she was the only teacher in the cafeteria and couldn't leave to go unlock the classroom door and get it. The entire 5th grade eats at the same time. Where the hell were the other teachers? The cafeteria is right across the hall from the office. How about step out for a minute and ask a secretary to take over for a minute; or use the damn phone in the cafeteria to call them. But, no , she puts the blame on my Son for not reminding her once someone else came in the cafeteria to assist. I'm sorry, but if I'm in charge of kids and one of them tells me they left their lunch in the classroom, that seems pretty important that they don't have lunch and I'm going to remember that and do something about it as soon as I can. Not forgot about it and then claim the kid didn't remind me. I told my wife she's probably one of those parents who leaves their kid in the hot car in the summer because they didn't remind her they were back there.

Yeah, it's a good thing I'm not at the school right now.

Any idea how long this teacher has been employed? My wife is a 5th grade teacher and the recent (past 5 year) hires haven't been very good.

She needs to get bounced, seems like she's singling out your son for some reason. Is there a chance to get him into another 5th-grade class?

I came home for a little bit. The community breakfast is outside right now and everyone was doing drugs this morning. I smell terrible now and my throat hurts. I do not want to go back out. One guy really gave me the creeps.

No idea. My wife was able to clear some stuff this morning.

So it turns out my Son did cheat on one problem. The kid's paper he looked at had totally wrong numbers based on the problem. It looks like my Son attempted to answer it, got some wrong numbers and looked to see what someone else got. It was towards the end of the paper and he was probably getting frustrated. Not justifying it and he shouldn't have done it and am going to gently remind him of that this afternoon.

Teacher pretty much denied the rest of the stuff but I don't believe a word she said after she dropped this bombshell. She claimed she had no idea my Son was in special education classes prior because of his slow learning and speech issues and her class that he is currently in is the enrichment class; i.e. the highest, best class 5th grade has (no wonder he is expected to do a 500 word essay. ). I don't know how she couldn't know this (full of crap IMO) because this Thursday she is in the scheduled IEP meeting we have to review his progress. She suggested a move to IEP Math as well as his current speech IEP. We are going to insist that he is moved to a lower class more suited to his needs.

Yeah based on the screw-up of putting him in enrichment that we just found out, I'm going to demand during Thursday's meeting that he be put in a regular class. He has been in IEP going to speech therapy and a slow learner since he was 2. I have no idea who screwed up and put him in the wrong class.

So my MIL just called me crying. Apparently our bird is bleeding from beneath it's wings and around one of it's legs and is favoring that leg. My guess is it might have gotten it's leg caught on the cage which has happened before. He has also been shedding a large amount of feathers recently too. She can't handle another death (her words) and was freaking out. My wife had just walked in from the meeting and she told her to calm down and take it to the vet and we would pay for it.

The bird really doesn't get much attention anymore since the dog came into the house.

So the vet told my MIL that they don't have anyone who can take care of a bird and to just make him comfortable.

My wife just looked it up and I guess parakeets only live 5 - 8 years. We have had him for 6 years now. I never did get a chance to teach him how to talk.
