Zion certainly deserves his fair share of blame for allowing himself to balloon up in weight.

That being said, I just can't fathom how terrible this franchise is... I'm beyond done trying to track progress on Zion with literally anything. Going back to the 2019 pre-season, they've been nothing but vague and mysterious about Zion's status. Whatever type of updates the team is releasing, expect the exact opposite to be happening in reality.

One of the things I was most attracted to Zion was his humble personality, (seemingly) genuine love for the game, and desire to the great. I'd be lying if I said Zion himself wasn't starting to rub me the wrong way, these days. Showing up fat in inexcusable and just seems like he just really doesn't care to be doing anything at this point. Maybe its New Orleans that has soured his attitude and forced him to rarely make any public statements... who knows? Either way, I've been one of Zion's biggest defenders on here for the last couple years, and even my patience is starting to get thin.

He certainly doesn't owe anything to me. I don't look at my collection as any type of investment vehicle. He's also the sole reason why I tune into the NBA. That being said, when my favorite player is constantly sitting on the bench, the desire to continue building the collection starts to fade.

The cheap prices are nice and I'm happy to scoop up nice stuff at a fraction of where they were last year... but it's not fun collecting a guy who never plays and has seemingly had all the joy sucked out of him.

If you believe what the media says, Zion’s family/camp has had a lot of control over what is said publicly about his health. They were apparently the ones responsible for the long gap between injury and public release. With that being said, the Pelicans still suck. Going to be interesting to see what happens this offseason. I feel he has to sign the max deal he’s going to get. Too much risk to gamble on his health.

Yeah - that's why I'm not putting all the blame on the Pels franchise.

Zion is his own man and isn't a kid. He certainly isn't doing himself any favors.

Zion on the floor not even at 100 percent is an absolute force of nature, just got to get him on the floor and keep him there. Still plenty of time for the youngster, but I think from a hobby perspective many are understandably going to be wading into the waters cautiously.

On a side note, I picked up a Revolution Impact PSA 9 RC /149 for a little over $300. I’ve always wanted an Impact or Cosmic and that is a risk that I’m more than willing to take on a guy with his upside. I think now is a great time to pick up a quality piece or two, but I wouldn’t go on a spree or over leverage yourself on his stuff. While returns could be insane, it’s definitely a gamble.

Agreed - Some dream cards have dropped precipitously in price recently. Allowed me to pick up my first rookie auto and some rare items that don't pop-up often.

I don't have a huge budget for cards and anything I buy is strictly from "fun money." I see all my purchases as a sunk cost without the expectation of it being any type of investment vehicle. That being said, it's just a bit irritating collecting cards of a guy that you never know when he'll ever be on the floor.

Nice pick-up on the Impact! I picked up a Cosmic a while back and love it.

I heard a story there are many people in New Orleans that are pissed off with Zion, his weight and his size.

Seems like everytime he comes around he blocks out the sun for two counties.

I am firmly in the HODL camp for the long run too. Selling my stuff would be peanuts to most anyway. Just needed a vent session to express my frustration and fully admit my “Zion can do no wrong” attitude is waning.

Mostly doing this also. I have a /15 and /25 of Zion and some RWB backs I can see it is him on the back. I sold off most of my sealed wax as the $$$ were too good and I should have sold it all at the time and bought back lower.

The cards mentioned above I will ride with into the sun.

Zion seems the guy who was never happy to go to NOLA and will do as little as he can so he can force his way out of there to get to a team he wants to be on aka NY. Another year or two of being hurt and not playing NOLA writes him off as a bust trades him for pennies on the dollar to NY.

To be fair, he did explode through some sweatshop shoes in college. I don't know if this is weight but more so torque. Imagine him getting his foot surgically repaired and then cutting explosively. RIP bones.

Ok real talk because I experience similar.

Breaking your foot by planting, turning/torque is a very real issue, especially in football with grass/turf.

I think Samuels? did this with the niners a year ago, not uncommon.

So to your comment, not that far off of being a true story.

Is there even a way to medically confirm discomfort claims after a set of clear scans?

This relationshit is more toxic than Tyson/Givens.

All these cryptic Rx updates/strange Griffin sexual advances got my sour diesel tasting reggie...

Boy bye.

I think that’s too logical and forward thinking — he just won’t stop eating

People are stupid.
If you're selling Zion now, you're not going to get as much as you were before.
Yet you cancel the purchase and refund the payment because you didn't get what you wanted...

If he’s annoyed about being in New Orleans, there are better ways to get out than being out of shape which causes you to prolong an injury.

I'm not active on the 'gram so unsure if that was an original quip. But solid 6.3/10.

I think Z needs to consult with Miguel Trout regarding career durability.

Anyone had any Zion sightings on or off the court lately.

He is huge you can't miss him.

Saw this photo circulating social - didn't really believe it at first. Still could be a weird angle situation but pretty concerning.

I was at the game this photo was from. We sat about 10 rows up from the Pelicans bench. It was impossible to tell what shape he is in because the sweats he had on were very bulky and would be impossible to judge off that night. I will say when he walked out from the locker room during the 1st quarter the entire group I was with all physically reacted to his look! It was pretty funny and the picture is how it looked but there is no way to know with that outfit what shape he is in.
