Did a deep-dive through some long ignored "misc football insert" boxes looking for numbered stuff and this seems to be the best of it. I completely stopped collecting football cards once Topps lost their license, but bought most brands from the 80's through around 2004. And, yep, I did get plenty of 2000 Brady RCs, including a Fleer Autographics (the one with him in a Michigan jersey), but sold those long ago, most way too early, but hey, I was happy at the time.
![]() The Emmitt Ultimate Victorys are out of /25 & /100 The Aikman is numbered "050" on the back (out of 500 which is not listed) ![]() ![]() These are from those bonus packs in 1999 Score Supplemental sets. The Zenith Z-Teams are sharp and numbered out of only /100. The die-cuts look great but are out of /1,000, so not rare, but cool I got the same two players on the die-cuts as on the Z-Teams, and not bad guys to get! There is also a gold parallel version numbered to the player's jersey, highly apropos for this particular chase set. (A rare Air McNair gold is shown in this post from earlier in this thread: https://www.blowoutforums.com/showpo...postcount=1271 ) All of mine shown will be available shortly, most likely on Ebay.

Those Z-Team are tough! I've probably opened 60+ of those sets, I think I only pulled one or two.

I feel like I opened around 25 sets or so, most way back then, but it might have been more. I don't think I got any other Z-Teams, but I sure I have more die-cuts. I guess I could just count my Quantum Leaf previews, since those were one per set, and I kept them all. I was mostly looking for the Inscription autos, and I did get a few, but none of the huge names. I can remember Tim Brown and Terrell Owens, but I'd have to check the binder for the others whose names escape me. Those were a lot of fun to open, especially at clearance prices, and sealed sets remain fairly inexpensive to this day.

Damn. I just grabbed that Marino z team again a few weeks ago. Would have been thrilled with 16/100

Someone hit the BIN on it almost immediately at $200 (which also included the die-cut). I priced the Emmitts about the same. We'll see on those...

I just picked this up on COMC today. Were these popular at all back in 1997? For a late '90s numbered insert, you don't really hear them mentioned much nowadays.

Me personally? If it wasn't for their mistake, this would have been one of the most loved 90s sets from the jump. SP Die Cuts were insanely popular, and his set, with only 100 made, would have been the lowest print run die cuts from SP. Originally, this set was suppose to have 3 tiers. Tier 1 - Base. 1:5 Tier 2 - Embossed. 1:12 Tier 3- Die Cut Embossed numbered to 100. Unfortunately, or fortunately for fans of awesome cards, all of the cards that were designated for Tier 2 were Die Cut as well. So Tier 2 and 3 are exactly identical except for the machine stamped serial numbering on the back. Another thing that has happened to hurt this card set over time is a flood of unnumbered tier 3 cards being released. A lot of these blanks have been hand numbered, creating the illusion these are common. The fact is, even replacements cards of this set were machine numbered. The only hand numbered 1997 set inserted into packs was the SPx Promotion Autographs and 1997 Upper Deck MVP Golds

I don’t think Playoff and Pacific cards get enough love. So here are a couple of them. And everyone should check out the Playoff mini back to back’s in person. The colors and shimmer of the foil are super hard to capture in pictures. In hand, these cards are gorgeous.

I don't know if I've seen a 99 in person but anytime I see one on ebay I find myself looking at it and wondering what makes it "atomic"

it does have the atomic look but it doesn't bust out like the 98's it's harder to see

The 99s are the worst atomic design they've ever created. I don't have a football one but it's the same concept. If you look at the vertical gold lines or the outline of the diamond you'll see some "cracking" which is the atomic piece (easiest to see on the bottom left piece of the diamond).
