Default Warning of stolen lebron james 2003-04 chrome card

Hello Fellow Card Collectors,
I'd like to warn potential buyers of a 'stolen' basketball card.
Earlier this year I sent a 2003-04 Topps Chrome Lebron James rookie card # 111, BGS 9.5 (2 x 10 incl centering & 2 x 9.5 subs) to a respected US auction house.
The card sold, payment was made to the auction house who then shipped the card to the highest bidder.
Unfortunately the bidder used a stolen credit card to pay for it.
The BGS Serial Number is 0010501751.
PLEASE DO NOT BUY OR BID ON IT.
Contact me or law enforcement if you see it for sale.
Thank you.

I feel like a super key piece of information is missing… why is it missing…

Hopefully the auction house paid you in full and are doing the leg work to get their money back.

I assume he never got paid… hence my post

If he got paid?

It shouldn’t be

Did the Auction House pay you? That is their problem. Good heads up so no one buys a stolen card but I hope you got paid.

Isn't this the whole point in consigning?

That’s why I’m confused

If he got paid for co-signing? It’s an auction house problem
If he didn’t get paid? Name this “auction house”

My entire point

If he’s just helping out the auction house? I guess that’s possible but seems strange

Also, as a bidder don't auction houses verify who you are, how much you can bid, etc?

That wasn't hard to find. Card was sold through Goldin Auctions in the Elite Auction ending May 22-23. $14,760.00

I’m sure it wasn’t

So why not say it?

And why not clarify who has been paid? Are they doing a chargeback to Goldin who is now charging back the seller? What is going on exactly?

Not you obviously

I posted to warn potential buyers that the card wasn’t in the hands of the legal owner and therefore not to bid or buy it to prevent any loss of funds to a buyer.
I didn’t mention the auction house, nor who has or hasn’t been paid as I didn’t consider it relevant to the reason for the post.

I feel like if you’re going to claim something missing or stolen you should be providing all relevant details but I guess not…

Can only imagine with its sub grades, the card was cracked out and sent to PSA.

The money is between the credit card company and the auction house. And in all likelihood, the credit card company takes the loss. I don't see how the owner of the card has not been paid, the liability ends when the card is sold. Just like selling an automobile to the car dealer. All the dents, or previous accidents on the car is the dealer's liability unless there is something that isn't reported properly.

I have provided all relevant details. I don’t understand why people need to know who the auction house is or who has or hasn’t been paid.

I was trying to give a warning to potential buyers.

How is a respected auction house getting burned by a fake c.c.? Wouldn't you have to verify who you are before being able to bid?

Well it was easy to find the auction house so idk why that wasn’t relevant but what it shipped and delivered?

I guess I expect Ken to weigh in here since he usually does in cases like this

So youve been paid and want the card when it shows up.

He wants you to contact him or law enforcement. Nothing else is relevant.

So here’s what I don’t understand. If the deal was done and paid how does the OP know it was stolen / fraudulently paid for… and why is it the sellers problem anyways?

Goldin should be doing their own KYC and why is OP worried since he should be getting g paid anyways?

There is definitely context missing

Should have given all the details and advise to contact golden auctions if found. Law enforcement isn’t going to do anything without a lot more information.

Yet another reason beyond pop count accuracy that grading companies should have scans of each high dollar card that fingerprint them.
