Edit: Popped! Haven't looked at individual grades but quickly copied and pasted into excel. We are back! 266/366 gems (72.88%)

Weird. Order says it's completed and is in pizza step 8/8 for shipping, however grades aren't available. No holds for up-charges/payment, no email stating grades ready. Maybe I'll get those later? Meh, whatever.

Been seeing better gem percentages of late from various orders on here. Is it possible that something has changed on PSA's end or most posts on here by more experienced graders submitting more carefully scrutinized cards? Congrats by the way on the high number of gems...so ultra modern, baseball/football/hoops paper/shiny stuff?

This order definitely feels like an order I would have graded in 2019. The big 9s from what I remember were graded fairly as they had flaws. Definitely think the "pop control" or "new grader" dip that we've seen since last summer sporadically and more so earlier this year is starting to stabilize. Most orders are coming through pretty fair, both high end and low end. Here are the results. Lots of chrome and shiny shine, all of which did about what I would have expected it to do in 2019. Some hidden monsters in here. But also some that have decreased despite the gem.

Wow...lots of great stuff/inventory you picked up there...multi-sport! What's up with that single Topps Roberts base lol?

Also a very good sample of paper/chrome in terms of "gauging" where PSA may be right now with their grading. Gives me hope as I've got around 1500+ cards in 10 orders still pending, all with a similar mix of paper/chrome but 95% baseball. I can handle following only one sport closely

The Lou Bob base was a throw in for one of the SPs haha. And agree, this is a pretty good mix to see how they are grading at the moment. I really feel like this one felt like an old style order. No issues with any of the grades in one direction or the other as my Tatis BB Orange Ref, BC Blue Ref, BC Ref all had surface scratches unfortunatley. Same with Zion Phoenix Red and some of the others. Can't wait to get them in hand however as some of the Pattys I'm really excited about getting back.

Also, I think there is a slowdown on Express orders. As you can see, my Express received 10/20 has not hit grading stage yet. Usually, they happen 1-day after at the latest.

Nope.

$75 is still way more than $15-20. A cheap option below $30 likely causes the flood youre talking about.

No there won't. There were 2 million cards sent in the first two months of 2021. An approximately equal number were sent during the flood to beat the increase in price on March 1. Half of those had DV less than $50. People weren't spending $75 to grade those cards then. They were spending $10-25.

No disagreement about the price, but there are 100’s of thousand’s and and probably millions that are being held to send. Regardless of how many cards sent in, the question remains, what is a reasonable wait for those cards to return?

For what price level? Express at $75 was 2 months before the March 1 price hike. With Express running at 2 weeks right now, I don't see why a $75-100 Regular submission can't be returned within 2 months.

Express is $150. I would say value level because bulk is not coming back no time soon. If PSA received 500,000 cards, which is highly likely, a 2 month turnaround is dreaming, considering they will still have backlogged cards. I would expect 6 months or more and the “or more” is what will be their problem.

You think PSA will receive 500k cards as soon as they open up a $100 level? I don’t think that’s realistic. But beyond that, the current grading pace is 8.8M/year. So please explain your math on why you think it would take them 6 months to get through 500k cards when the level immediately above it takes just 2 weeks right now.

PSA right now is grading around 800,000 cards a month. When the backlog is finished, they will price their service to get around that a month. Prior to the shutdown and price increase, they had pricing at under $15 for cards under $200. The market was also very hot and their capacity was half of what it is now. I expect bulk at $20 to return soon after they get through all their backlog, unless their is a huge run-up in the market.

If PSA keeps the price high, SGC will just cut prices and take the lower end market away from PSA.

I know you are PSA only and that is cool. I too sent stuff to PSA, but to think they will have a turn around time in the 2 month range is not practical. SGC has increased there turnaround time to 45-60 days at $30. PSA will get far more cards then SGC is receiving. 2 months is not practical. They are not that ramped up. It is not about math, but what are real numbers. You love PSA because of the registry. I like PSA because there ROI at the price was awesome. The turnaround is everything for me going forward, ROI is important. I will likely not have cards in the hands of PSA for 6 plus months ever again.

Do you not think the grading market has slowed because PSA closed their lower value services due to the backlog? I think the number of cards they receive will dramatically increase, just based on this board there are 100’s of thousand of cards being held. There are many, many, many other collectors that are not on BO holding cards to send to PSA, INSTAGRAM, FACEBOOK, other collectors. We shall see.

But what we both know (even though you continue to ignore it), is that PSA’s current capacity is 8.8M cards per year. There is no arguing that. So to say it will take them 6 months to do 500k cards is just you being ignorant or manipulative.

500K is when they open and within the first week or so. To say they will not be swamped with far more then that is ignorant of you, a word you throw around a lot. You do you KD and although you have a problem respecting the opinion of others without throwing shade at them speaks to your character not mine.
