That's one of the worst PowerPoint slides ever created.

HGA has their niche market: those that really just want a tacky, somewhat affordable label.

Also those that collect cans of Monster Energy drinks.

They don't have a single software development engineer on staff as far as I can tell. Does anyone actually believe they developed their own proprietary AI tech? It's fine if you want to sub or buy HGA slabs as long as you understand it's not AI at all and similar to what some other grading companies already do. The value prop is basically color coded slabs.

I showed this to a colleague today and we are in agreement that everything they showed could be built in a university computer science department hackathon event.

The only thing that was interesting was the “ideal edge/corner” fill that outlines abnormalities, but I imagine a few hours on GitHub could turn up similar algorithms to do that.

They are the Nathan Barley of the Card World.

I understand you yanks probably don't have a f'n clue who Nathan Barley is, so TLDR - A British parody of the early 2000's VICE Magazine / Terriy Richardson / Cobra Snake / Hipster idiots.

Why is the computer monitor shaking throughout the video?

Is that a prop desk with fake plants in the background?

So does HGA now think...we're good. We showed them the AI. To the Moon we go!

Default HGA's 1st Look at AI Grading Program

Hate to be that guy, but their Quality Assurance/Control professional was a delivery truck driver for 5 years in his previous job, sold insurance before that, and has a degree in music.

Their “trainer” was a bar keep just a year ago and working at Chick-fil-A 5 years ago.

Their director of business development was on an electricians apprentice path just 6 years ago…

Is this a joke? I’m not downplaying those professions at all, but how are those direct pipelines into those current roles?

If I do a comparison between similar roles at PSA, BGS, SGC, and CSG, what am I going to find?

I think it shows that any dummy can put a card in a slab of plastic with an art project flip.

Could've definitely kept going with the custom slabs. Hire a few better graders. Might have worked.

They thought it was better to pretend they were an AI company. They are not smart.

If you use google street view on the HGA grading address/location, let's just say it doesn't scream professionalism when it shows they're setup in a former thrift store outlet next to a dance studio and karate place.

I read this as a joke and then realized you're posting legitimate information.

HGA CEO stepping away from social media because of negativity and non-constructive criticism. Kind of crazy he was fielding these messages alone and wasn’t using the AI to robo-respond
