Ray getting squeezed pretty hard, except for one weird strike call like 6 inches off the plate to Margot

dork even tried the anti-jix of Ray giving up 8 in the first yesterday.

This thread is singlehandedly screwing up the race.

My first thought was that the closer this gets, the more it favors Cole because of name recognition (whether that's fair or not).

My second thought was how voters will view Cole and his sticky usage.

Or making it great. Depends on perspective

It's going to be fun. Right now, it's actually still pretty tight on paper. If Cole finishes 17-8 and Ray 12-8, with comparable ERA and WHIP ... voters might care.

I still think, all else equal, this will come down to whose team makes the playoffs. It looks like exactly one of the Jays and Yankees will enter.

If it really goes to 17-8 and 12-8, there is a good chance Cole's ERA will drop and Ray's will go up. Then Ray is very unlikely to overcome the 5 W difference and Cole's name recognition.

Wheeler tonight in back to back at-bats. Runner on 3rd, 1 out, down 1-0 to Baltimore:

What the hell has happened to Buehler. That Giants game a few weeks ago was the end of him.

He’s tired. Leaving pitches up, velocity down, off speed stuff isn’t as sharp. Needs some extra days of rest to recuperate.

Yup. He's looked like this all month. Fastball has lost it's hop. A ton of rolling breaking balls. He's not finishing guys off. They need to just skip his next start.

I'm guessing he's actually hurt. At this point he's not winning the Cy Young, so rest him up for the playoffs. Its hard to watch him struggling the way he has.

It's possible. Tommy John isn't an infinite cure. Buehler had his in 2015.

James Andrews has said the time frame before TJ tends to begin failing is around 7 years.

Buehler definitely gassed. Looks like they needed Max more than they realized.

Cole faces red hot Boston bats tonight in a key game for both teams.
Eovaldi for the Sox.
