Everyone knows the posters who say "Easy..EASY pass" are the ones who ignore their hungry toddler while refreshing their web browsers.

This is the most torn I've been so far. My guess is I end up ordering my one box, ripping it, getting walloped, and stop buying anything here that is crazily priced, which I'm assuming it going to be literally every product moving forward

For real though, the Most Ginter of All Ginter Guys (OK, maybe I'm like top 30) hates this and is passing. I have zero desire to open only one box at $175.

I think you're looking at it from a hold perspective - that's not my game. I open up most of what I buy, in my case it's not about how much over MRSP I'm going to sell it for, it's purely from the perspective of opening and the cost of buying on the secondary market. Having bought most products in the last three years, I haven't had any luck finding it under the original price in the wild except for the occasional instance when someone undercuts everyone by a wide margin.

I honestly don't believe I will see this for less than $195.50 delivered at any point in the near future. If it is, then my gamble doesn't pay off and I have an opportunity to either buy more at a lower cost or pass.

I think I bought three boxes last year - I also bought a few base lots as well. A complete set more than paid for my costs last year - that likely won't happen this year but I still want to open some and will likely grind out single sales on it and at least break even based on past experience.

I might try and buy one more box if the public sale happens tomorrow but that's probably all I'll go after.

It was one of the most desirable products. If you held it for an entire year after fees and shipping on a give or take $325 purchase you would make maybe $50. With how the hobby has been I don't know many products that were limited release you could hold for a year and not even make 35%. Besides for Brooklyn Collection Allen Ginter X is probably the least desirable online exclusive from Topps. At $75-$100 it was desirable for buyers but not at basically $200. The MSRP doubled. You can buy a box of 2020 for under what a box of 2021 cost you right now. Those have been out for a year and have a short supply right now.

Everything besides Allen Ginter that Topps has jacked up the cost on the previous year version was selling way above this years cost at the time of the new product. Allen Ginter that is not true on. You can buy a box of 2020 for around $175-$190. Brooklyn Collection 2020 was the same cost as 2019. If they doubled the MSRP on that those would be selling for under MSRP. They have only done this price gouging on a few products. All of which were much more popular than Allen Ginter X.

I will join many others in saying this is the first MC offering I will pass on. I'm not angry or upset; I'm just not buying.

Passing and hoping that the $175 I'm not spending today will cover most of the upcoming MC renewal

Only if Topps keeps the club basically the same next year. If you think they would run the presses as a swan song, they might do the same for MC while hiking membership fees.

Good thing it doesn’t COST $500 to join.

Yet. Seeing as how they have no qualms about doubling(and occasionally quadrupling) the price of every box in the club, what reason do we have to presume that membership isn't going to suddenly be in the $800-1000 range next year, even for renewals?

Yeah renewals were the end of a week and then the new membership window was an hour or two on the following Monday. Last year renewals were $200 and new memberships were $300. No reason they won't at least double both numbers the next time around. Perhaps they will whittle it down to being exclusive again.

I'm expecting a price increase, but I doubt it will drop numbers. Folks saw some of the huge winners this year and if nothing else, next year get's you a set with a limited Wander RC.

It's been mentioned before that there should be more than one membership tier. It could solve the problem of keeping the MC gifts and sets exclusive while Topps still cleans up in terms of more members and more fees from those who don't want the extras or don't plan on buying every club offering. Sadly it's unlikely to happen now at least under Topps.

If you need to open you're better off buying a 2020 box for around the same price or less.
