First impressions: what it lacks in obvious big names, it makes up for with lots of sleepers. Naturally, many will come out of the gate way more expensive than they should.

Solid "B" overall, I'd say. I'll be hunting several names, but holding the majority of my funds for Draft as usual.

Any idea what the lowest pre sale prices were? Not a big fan of buying in advance but current prices don't seem terrible.

I think this is the lowest they've been. I got hobby from BO for $250ish back in March.

This is a good checklist.

Notable exceptions:
Alex De Jesus
Aeverson Arteaga
Jose Ramos
Alexander Ramirez (Mets)* has a base card
All the Indians guys: Valera (we knew wasn't happened), Alexfri Planez, Jhonkensy Noel.

Add me to the “this is a good effort” list. Upside. Leans young. 75% position players.

I just wish I wasn’t so damn pessimistic on the auto PR games that seem to be more common. I can’t fully appreciate a good list until I know that the top 5 aren’t missing half of the expected volume.

It’s also not full of HUGE names. I agree everyone will have a fan so everything gets a little overpriced initially… but realistically I think it’s a very “middle value” heavy list. And just one guy not on a roster.

How so for Acosta - he had a 1st Bowman in regular Bowman, correct?

He's a complete pop-up. He was a small bonus guy from the 2019 J2 class -- nobody of that ilk is in this, and Topps determines this CL mostly before the season starts.

Might be confused, think I meant someone else then.

Guess my wallet will be happy that there aren't many NYY prospects in this (1st Bowman that is). Good luck to everyone buying boxes and hunting singles on this.

VICTOR Acosta.

But yeah, I guess by mentioning only the non-auto part, you may have meant Maximo? Victor has both auto and non in here.

Speaking of checklist, number of autos and all can we agree that too many won't consider any of that come to bidding up spots on Houdini's auction? I mean a PSA should be blasted saying with a larger auto checklist and only 10 to 20 cases you won't get as many autos compared to years past where one could expect a decent haul.

No. I'm positive everyone bidding will have a good idea of relative pack odds, hit rates, print run likelihood, and associated risk.

I count 13 out of what, 86 autos for guys that I might be interested in.

That's better than the past couple of years for sure. Was 9 out of 75 in 2020 BC, 6 out of 68 in 2019 BC, 8 out of 80 in 2018 BC.

The ratio of guys on my shortlist to overall checklist is identical to 2016 BC. Should be a good year!

I count 22 guys on the auto checklist that qualify as "interesting" or better. Mostly guys that are Top 20 J2 signings.

I only count 20 guys that I would consider total filler that I wouldn't spend over $3 on.

I think this product has a TON of potential. And that is coming from the resident pessimist.

For comparison, I felt like 2020 only had about 16-17 "interesting" guys at release.

I am interested in seeing the price spread between HTA and regular. I only pre-ordered HTA. However, Ramirez, Piron, Beltre and Chen are base exclusives and are all interesting prospects.

Any chance that any of the CPA's are HTA or Mega Box Exclusives and therefore not in Hobby boxes? Not sure how HTA has worked in the past regarding the checklist.

No, it’s all hypothetically the same checklist. Mega box autos get weird but that’s a completely different topic.

Thanks. I see now that HTA has exclusive parallels but should be same checklist.
