The bottom line is that Cashman's product has failed to appear in a WS since 2009 and lately is not even winning the division. The buck has to stop with him (since it can't stop with Hal). Cashman has to be held accountable for the results, and for being repeatedly embarrassed by the Rays who operate on a fraction of the resources, and by the Dodgers who illustrate how to spend big money for results. Usually, in any other job, if one failed as much as Cashman, they'd be shown the door. And yet because his Daddy and Hal's Daddy played golf together, one silver spoon gives the other a free pass. It leads one to think that Hal doesn't really care about winning rings; he wants a team that is just competitive enough to keep the seats filled and the profits flowing.

This is an interesting article speaking to how the Yanks have more often than not acted like a smaller market team when the fans would hope they go for the jugular and make a statement. But of course it goes well beyond pitching. Gary, Gleyber, Gallo, there are a lot of players who look lost and/or lazy. Their beer league softball approach of waiting around for the big homer never plays well versus October-caliber pitching, either. It says a lot that whenever the replacements or call-ups enter the lineup, the team plays with greater life and a scrappy, loose energy. And whenever the starters return, they seem to suck the life out of the team.

As a fan, I'd love to see Cashman go and watch a fresh mind with a brand new approach try a wholly different roster construction.

To be fair, the Dodgers FINALLY won a World Series for the first time since, what, 1988?

True, yet in the last 11 years, the Yanks have appeared in zero WS and the Dodgers have had 3, with that one title. In the last 8 years, the Dodgers also have 8 Division Titles as compared to the Yanks 1. Both teams are expending approximately the same amount of resources, financially, yet one is getting much, much better results. And then of course there is how Tampa is outperforming Cashman's effort with a fraction of the payroll. Yanks fans will learn a lot about this team and its upper management if they miss the playoffs this year and trot out essentially the same club in 2022. And looking way, way ahead, should they have a lackluster 2022 as well, it will be interesting to see if Cashman is given a new contract.

The Dodgers also focused on pitching. We really have not other than Cole. LA had Kershaw and still went and improved from there.

The Dodgers also play in a weaker Division than the Yankees. They are guaranteed at least 2 teams and sometimes three will be at .500 or under.

The Yankees have the Orioles and can't beat them.

That's one bad team year in and year out in the Division and up until this year and our inconsistent play, we usually have fared very well against the Orioles.

Looking at the AL East standings history, in six of the last seven years the division has had 2 teams with sub .500 records for the season. The exception was 2016, when there was one sub .500 team.

In those seven seasons, the Yankees have mustered one division title and of course no WS appearances. In those seven seasons Boston has 3 division titles and the other teams each have one like the Yankees do. That is certainly not the results one would expect given the resources at Cashman's fingertips. And it is not as if one amazing superteam in the division was on a dynastic run during this period, either.

Haha I wish I could ask Cashman some pointed questions.

Better yet I wish I could turn in results similar to his at my job and stay as gainfully employed as he does!

Meanwhile it seems like his big additions this trade deadline are heading for some ignominious stats. Gallo is on pace to have more strikeouts than points in his average for the second time in his career. And Heaney had I believe the worst opening handful of appearances of any Yankee debut. I just fail to see how a .190-ish hitter (albeit a lefty in a home field with a short right field) and a pitcher with a 7.00 ERA are supposed to put a team over the top. If upper management thinks those moves are going to excite a fan base, they must really take us for fools. Especially when some teams are adding the likes of Scherzer and Turner in one fell swoop. Not saying those two were available to the Yanks, but it's hard to see moves like that from other contenders and feel like Cashman did a good job.

Cashman is the most overrated gm I have ever seen, the closest they have gotten to the World Series since 2009 was 2017 Judges rookie year where they seemed to catch lightning in a bottle, trust me there were no moves by Cashman that were responsible for that.

They should let judge walk and spend that money on starters and the bullpen. We Now have Stanton and Gallo extending Judge is not what's needed most. We need to also address SS and obviously need a serviceable catcher.

I would rather move the other two and hold on to Judge - he is a homegrown Yankees product and I would bet they make a killing on his merchandise.

Team just looks lost and Cashman can't seem to get out of his own way...

If that was an option I would agree but it's not. Gallo is with us through '22 and Stanton is a lot longer than that. Judge is going to want a big Payday, And with how the Steinbrenners operate that would hurt what this team needs most.

There's always a way - trade the goons for a case of baseballs.

If they could find some sucker to take on Stanton's ridiculous contract absolutely. But I think that would be incredibly challenging.

Not to mention the Dodgers farm system continues to crank out talent. Their player development is unmatched.

Well I am willing to do anything to get a win, it’s stupid hat night for luck, I am wearing a hillbilly country style hat that I got for Christmas, will my fellow Yankees fans join me as we need to turn this slump around and I am getting tired of kicking puppies after every game.

This is a huge game and the stands are empty.
Everything this franchise has become is pathetic. It's no wonder George didn't want to give the team to his kids, they could careless about baseball. Hal doesn't give a crap about baseball. Hal was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, guys probably never even wiped his own ass. Just a spoiled prick that's never worked a hard day in his life. He doesn't give a crap if yankee fans can't afford to go to many games if any but as long as corporate Manhattan scoops up those season tickets us common folk just get spit on. Oh and this stadium is a piece of garbage, no personality at all, horribly put together, tradition flushed in the toilet so these clown can build a mall you can play baseball games in.

They look like they're sleep-walking yet again to another L and a sweep. Toronto has a clearly superior line-up compared to the Yankees. I would swap their whole line-up for the Yankees. Hell, their whole entire roster even. The Yankees have maybe 2 good players on their entire roster (Cole and Judge, although he can't hit in the clutch or with runners on base to save his life). $200 million+ for this bunch of under-achieving hacks? This whole team needs to be blown up.

This is the key right here. The biggest off-season move the Yankees can make is to poach some of the front-office/player development staff from Tampa. That would be the most savviest, let alone cost-effective, move they could make to fix this mess of a team. Don't go out there and try to over-pay for some veterans that are gona under-perform
