Default 1999 Topps Finest Double Feature Dual Refractors...

Hi,

I've been buying these very slowly because can't seem to find any 10's almost... Is there a reason these cards were almost never graded? I know there is a Kobe/Shaq Dual Ref. on Ebay but that's a bit expensive for now...

Does anyone here have any other dual Refr PSA 10's? Just like to see others and maybe get some more for the collection

These are all Pop 1...

Thanks!

I think a lot didn't get graded because to get a good grade with Finest cards, you have to peel off the protective peel. Me personally, I like the peel on. Also, most of the time with Finest people are just grading the rookies and star player parallels.

Good luck with your set! Love a good chase.

Those are sweet cards! Also weren't these pretty rare I remember busting a few boxes of these and didn't they have versions that were like half the card refractor and half plain chrome? So this would kind of be the top of the class of this insert so pretty rare as is.

I have a Kobe/Shaq but mine is probably a 7 or an 8 if I were to grade it. These weren't really worth all that much until recently.

Those are sweet. I know a lot of guys like the peels on, but I like em off on the refractors. The cards just look so much better.

I do agree that those refractors look very clean without the peel...

Yeah, I never really knew they were popular or not... Just thought they were really nice cards and got all of these at a fair price... Completing this one will be nearly impossible but I love a good challenge

That Pierce/Walker use to be mine. I had it for years and recently decided to sell it with the increased interest in PSA 10s. I sold it for what I thought was a ridiculous price only to have the guy immediately relist it and get another $100 for it. Yes it’s a pop 1, but that’s because it’s the only one to ever be graded. The same story can be said for most of the set. There is a high PSA 10 rate with the double refractors and very few have been graded. It’s not that rare of a set though. They don’t pop up every day, but even all these years later someone could still put the complete set together in a year or so with simply an eBay watch list. The reason they are pop 1 is because they have never had any value, at least not enough to warrant the grading fees.

So, does that mean that scooping up a bunch of the graded copies will pay off over time? I don’t know. It’s an interesting thought. It’s not likely that people will start grading these in bulk, but it’s also not likely that this set will suddenly gain any significant hobby attention either.

P.S. great work taking photos of slabbed refractors that don’t show a ton of reflection and still display the shine so well!!!

Yeah, I really just like the look of the cards... But hey, should they go up, all good, if they don't, all good too... I'm not spending too much on these and it's just fun to collect these

For how much did you sell the Pierce/Walker?

I think it’s just because these were never really worth that much. Personally I like them, broke a box at release but they weren’t popular at all. Post-Kobe death the set saw some love outside of the niche 90s crowd, similar to a lot of other refractor sets that featured him.

They had practically no value. A Kobe/Shaq BGS 9 sold for less than $25 years ago on COMC. Thats probably what raws were selling for.

I sold it for $125 and then I believe I saw it sell on eBay for $225 about 2 months later.

Yeah, but like I said before, not really looking at the value... Just a fun chase

I remember chasing these back in the day. These were tough to pull the double refractors, dont remember exactly how hard but I think they were like 1 in 144 packs or something like that, maybe I am wrong, does anyone remember how hard these were to pull.

Like you had asked though, it’s the reason why these weren’t really graded.

I forget which one-sided refractor I pulled out of a box as a kid, just remember being a bit confused. Ha.
