Giants survive the first big push by the Dodgers.....

Looked like the lead was going to be down to 1/2 a game on Saturday.

Then two PH homers and a Dodgers loss on Sunday and suddenly the lead is back up to 2 1/2 games.

Back-to-back comeback wins against Chokeland, keeping that Bay Trophy in S.F. where it belongs, first team to 80 wins, and as a cherry on top - the doyers lost. All in all an excellent weekend for the Giants.

The Giants became the first team in MLB history to get pitch-hit homers in the eighth inning or later to turn a deficit into a lead in back-to-back games.

Absolutely amazing weekend for the Giants! First team to 80 wins!!

Go Giants!!!!!!!!!!!

Logan Webb continues to impress and Lamonte Wade Jr has been a revelation. This team is fun to watch.

10 of their last 38 games are against the Padres, only 3 against the Dodgers. It's going to be verrrrry interesting down the stretch.

Webb's velocity seems up to me. He hit 98 several times yesterday, which surprised me. I've been scooping a bunch of $1-2 refractors and sub $10 TC autos. He checks a lot of boxes for me. Perfect, fun, low risk LVDan type dumpster dive project.

He usually tops out at 96 so that is an uptick. Luciano, Pomares and Matos are all super expensive so it is nice to have a young Giant that isn't crazy expensive. Even Lamote Wade base autos are $40.

Well.....the Giants did everything they could to hand that game to the Mets.....and still won.

Gutsy pitching my McGee to get Alonso with the bases loaded, and horrible managing by Luis Rojas, pulling Walker in the 7th after an error and a bloop when he was dominating the Giants (he must have been taking managing lessons from Matt Williams ). I thought he was going to go at least 8, if not throw a complete game.....

On another note....Giants had runner on 2nd with nobody out in both the 7th and 8th and failed to advance him to third....definitely need to improve the situational hitting.

Did you hedge this any by betting on the Dodgers about 3 weeks ago when the Giants got to their peak (so far) 5 game lead?

I sent him a card to sign in the mail a few months back, hoping to get it back maybe towards the end of their break after the season... unless they win, which at that point I probably won't get one. lol

Whats up with Luciano? He's been having a tough go since be assigned to Eugene. Batting .231 with a .590 OPS. Pomares is hanging in there nicely, batting .304 with an .839 OPS since he was called up.

First to 90 wins. It's not just the number, it's how unexpected it was.

He's moved up to a higher level and is struggling a bit.

Happens to prospects all the time....

Being a top 10 prospect I, and most, didn't expect this sort of hard landing with a transition to High-A. It's been a rough go for the kid.

"At the front of the struggles has been Marco Luciano, who was recently bumped up to the fifth-best prospect in all of baseball. The 19-year-old is yet to fully adjust to the High-A level. He went 3-for-18 with seven strikeouts and no extra-base hits last week and is batting .218/.270/.287 in 111 plate appearances as an Emerald.

His season OPS, which was at .930 with Low-A San Jose, has plummeted more than 100 points to .828. He’s also made six errors with Eugene; while fielding percentage is far from a perfect statistic (especially in small samples), a .908 mark is rough."

Crawford is the real NL MVP.

It's crazy that of all the really good teams that the Giants have had since moving to California, they have only won 100+ games three times. Looks like there will be a fourth this year.

Definitely getting 2010 vibes though.
