What is surprising to me is how few of the 1/1's posted in this thread are graded. I own several 1/1's as a collector that I have no interest in selling at this time which are mostly raw. Some I posted in this thread. But have been thinking of getting them graded for better protection, higher accuracy for insurance, and improved knowledge on their overall quality.

Are very high value supers in the industry (>10K) generally graded?

I have a handful of 1/1's graded by PSA, but getting them graded depends on the player for me. Now that PSA is being very nitpicky about values and upcharges, I don't want to send any of my 1/1's in.

A $20 grading fee for a $200-$400 1/1 seems realistic for for the purposes that you mentioned above (protection, liquidity, insurance). However, if a player goes on a tear while you're waiting for the cards to come back (>year) that $20 fee can quickly balloon to $50 - $200+.

Low end 1/1, but it is just a fun card. Wish more players were featured in this style.

The vast majority of Supers are raw, as they should be. But slabs generally offer better protection, especially Beckett/BGS, which is good to have here. The number on the label doesn’t matter, and actually unnecessarily distracts from the card.

Today, it's this one, 2016 Topps Tier One Bat Knob Grady Sizemore.

What's cool about it is that it's not only Grady's only bat knob card, AFAIK, it's literally the only Grady Sizemore card produced in 2016.

I'll jump on the Inception train! Here's my 1/1 - I still need the orange /10 if anyone has one out there

I showed this earlier, but just got it graded!
(I know grading 1/1’s is frowned upon but I liked the protection that grading offered.)
Hoping he bounces back from the surgery/injury Snd is stronger than before!

I don't think grading 1/1s is a bad thing. I do agree that it doesn't add a ton of value, I mean there can't be a better graded 1/1 copy. Personally I only grade the ones that are in my long term PC for protection. Or if its a card that I want to sell and I can tell there is a big issue, that way it doesn't get returned because of it.

My new favorite 1/1. Love the graphic-novel style artwork and the piece of bat barrel complete with pine tar is a nice touch.

That’s a sweet card. (Hard to beat the game-used / on-card combo.)

Thanks! Agree, with the plethora of sticker autos and memorabilia stuff floating around nearly all products these days it’s exciting to find a good game-used piece with an on card sig, PLUS a nice unique design!
