Again, the 10X number without question includes the value of the ownership stake the union is getting in the deal.

Talking out of ignorance at this point, but Panini and Topps can still exist and function, and in soccer in particular, I'd imagine they can still make solid money. No clue what presence Fanatics has internationally.

They will get the players to also sign autographs and do NFTs, the valuation can be easily recovered.

I could see Fanatics moving mostly away from them cheaper products and focus almost solely on the high end stuff to cater to breakers (or just run their own breaks) and flippers for the most part. So maybe a flagship and then all high dollar

This would be great and I hope they do it. I would imagine it's an arbitrary rule.

We can easily rule out sales and marketing. If somehow you were, you deserve to get your walking papers.

Honestly, this is how I see it going down with new cards. I'm trying to picture a world where kids get more involved but the people in charge are a big part of that. If the Fanatics employee that just blasted a generation of collectors is any indication, the future is bleak.

Yup, a poor decision in my eyes if the money was the only factor involved. However, its hard for me to believe there isn't a long game here by Topps when Fanatics offer was made known to them.

Of course they can still exist and function, but having Soccer for Topps and UFC as the flagship for Panini will be difficult to survive long term.

Do you take the money now and be absorbed or do you wait until your company is worth 1/25th of what it used to be and get absorbed?

Maybe we can convince Topps to release two Heritage sets a year for the next few years so that they can at least get through the 70's......

Why did I cringe at Fanatics having a breakers tab on their homepage with their 10 employee breakers.

One small quibble with this statement: I believe MLBPA represents only players on the 40-man roster. Players under minor league contract have to sign with Topps (or another card company) on their own.

Short/lomg term plays?

Wait for all the Topps cards next 4-5 years to print and collect Key rcs only? As eventually we collect First year Fanatic cards all over again? (2012 Prizm ish)

Keep flipping modern singles or hold?, since Topps will print to kingdom come to try and get money to buy Women's Soccer, E-sports, licenses and anything else Fanatics does not want?

Stop buying Panini Baseball products, because that's is folding sooner than Topps and the value might just drop even faster than modern topps?

Long term plays?: Buy only key Topps wax to hold sealed, Base, Chrome update, Bowman, no other?

Who will want heritage now, Ginter, Gypsy Queen wax the next 4 years to hold, maybe even mid-High end, can they redeem
autos?

Vintage topps cards will go to the moon now, as more Topps only collectors will focus on collections?

Grading slows down? 1 Company printing, and time for assimilation for all collectors?

Sheesh, at least the boards will be busy with Polls and questions the rest of the summer.

The hobby is alive and buzzing, just sad news for today..

I would buy only serial numbered cards the next few years.

The difference will be it’s the ONLY place those cards can be found… and I’d guess collectors are buying the player, and not the team logo at that point

Trout has exclusivity with Topps through the rest of his career, for instance

He does, but no one is going to go back to Topps (almost no one) when their MLBPA has equity in Fanatics

Soccer's the one sport that has a chance, IMO, because of the international appeal. But I suppose being the next Upper Deck is the most likely outcome. Which, who knows if that's what they want.

Right and UD's valuation has plummeted, so better to get money now.
