They have to sign with the individual players, not the schools or the conference.

So lets take Tebow, he could say I am going with Leaf, but Florida and SEC has a deal with Topps.

That means no Topps Tebow cards and also means Leaf has no logos but has Tebow

Didn't they claim they were already working on retaining the MLB license and trying to go after more? Great job Topps.

Yeah actually I could see them acquiring the Bowman brand. On the Topps brand....could Fanatics take the soccer products too? Is it possible to live in a world where Topps makes Topps products in soccer and Fanatics makes Topps products in baseball?

Someone said one of the leagues was 2025, but based on one tweet it does not appear to be an exclusive with those leagues.

They can't, that's why they keep losing to the owners.

I think Fanatics would be smart to buy Topps and all their contracts.

F1
Soccer
Star Wars
etc

I’m smalltime but have 60 shares of MUDS at 11.51 a share. That’s after I sold 30 shares when it was up at $17.12.
My plan is to just sit on it and see what happens. It’s not much compared to what real stock guys buy. Now it’s a wait and see thing.
Fingers crossed,
Vinny

And Fanatics just got exclusive to NBA and NFL too. Good riddance Panini. Flush all those Panini cards down the toilet

I can picture the Fanatics Autograph Pavilion at the National.

Step right up for your $850 Cal Ripken and your #12 Overall MLB Pick for $950.

All signs point to a company that knows their stuff! Can't wait for more sweet deals like this... maybe they'll start a grading company too since they already have the slabs

It would be in theory, but that's a lot of contracts and products. 3 sports is a big enough load; I can't imagine the horror show it would be for a startup company to manage all that.

If anything this will be a golden opportunity for people in the first few years of Fanatics branded cards to get in on the ground floor and capitalize on the penalty for having no tradition in the hobby.

After a few years, magically, there's a history and consistent products and the tradition gets established.

If I were a distributor or reseller of wax, or even a big-time breaker, this would concern me more than it does average collectors. If Fanatics can sell everything online via their store, what do they need the middle man for? Online retail is kind of their thing.

And for the big breakers who have been helping distributors move tons of product in exchange for a discount, how will they mark up these group breaks when everybody is able to see what they bought in for?

I see a lot of opportunity for buying Topps products on their way out (memorabilia dumps, sticker dumps, etc) and a lot of opportunity for buying Fanatics cards before they have established that tradition factor.

Apologies to big breakers and distributors, I think they get hurt the most.
Problem with that thinking is Poopini sold for pennies on the dollar compared to today's wax because it was in fact Poopini. Think Fanatics is going to release $60 boxes of shine? After paying reportedly 10X for a license? Psssssshh.

We will be lucky to see sub $1000 shiny Fanatical garbage. Getting in the ground floor for this junk will come at a premium!

The other contracts are going to want a new home and if Panini and Topps are taken down and UD can not afford them. They will have to go somewhere. Fanatics would be the smart play to take them as they are not a startup.

I just feel like the smart move is to buy out the rights of Topps and/or Panini or merge with them mainly due to having the ability to make cards already plus now they can use the brands and already branded card sets on all platforms.

Fanatics MLB/NFL/NBA Chrome, Prizm, National Treasures, Optic, Definitive, etc etc etc in pro uniforms coming soon

1 main company just making it all

This is what I'm hoping for too. Good-looking cards and easier access to them at retail prices. I'd love to think I could go into Kohl's or another retailer and buy some reasonably packed cards with my kids.

2025 is a long way away, and I'll just have to wait and see (and read this thread!).

Interesting to see how many people currently employed by the manufacturers (Marketing/Product Development/Design/Production) are sharpening up their CV's and getting ready to fill new roles in this new Fanatics business?

If they paid 10X what topps paid, it wouldn't matter if they brought over all of topps / bowman brands, they wouldn't be able to make back the costs.

At the end of the day most baseball collectors will just transition over to the Fanatics release.
Baloney...there are lots of Topps products that are quite popular that Fanatics will not be able to replicate (Heritage & Archives, for example). And plenty of older collectors like me who will have minimal interest in Fanatics products because they have no history attached to them.

The important piece of that specifically is when are the agreements with the player's associations are over because without those agreements you cannot produce cards with the player's names and images.
