Default Kris Bryant to the Phillies?

Kris Bryant just pulled from the game;

Phillies just pulled OF Bryson Stott from their AA game...

No way the Cubs let Kris Bryant rot in the shitthole in Philly.

The Kris Bryant - Bryce Harper connection lends weight to this. They kind of/sort of grew up playing together. Bryant wanted Harper to come to the Cubs when he became a FA a few years back. I wouldn't rule it out, but I also don't know diddly about the Phils current lineup to know if it makes sense.

Wrigleyville isn't exactly the center of Chicago's crime surge.

Those Philly fans, though, will definitely test whether he's got thick skin. He'll need to showcase more of that "St. Louis is boring" attitude to endear himself in Philly.

Cubs fans are much easier to appease.

Is he a reliever?

How many years now have the Phillies had a terrible pen?

But can he pitch an inning of relief?

I’d rather see Alec Bohm keep insulting the third base position if it meant they get to replace some of these clowns in the pen

Probably just a coincidence

Makes too much sense for the Phillies upper mgmt to make an astute move like this

The Phillies can sign Erik Sogart. He can play 3rd and pitch an inning.

As someone who grew up a fan of both the Cubs and Phillies AND Kris Bryant is my favorite player, I’m not happy about this possibility. I live in the Phillies television market, so it would be cool to see him play more often, but No.

Going back to the 1960’s, and likely earlier than that, there has been a neat Cubs Phillies connection. From Richie Ashburn and Robin Roberts to Larry Bowa, Ryne Sandberg, Fergie Jenkins, Manny Trillo, and more recently Jake Arrieta. I don’t want to see Kris Bryant on that list.

Looks to be a coincidence. Bryant is a rental, isn’t he?

Good discussion on MLB Trade rumors that there typically aren’t big hauls for rentals anymore with the current value of young players. Stott looks solid enough so far that I would be disappointed a team no where close to a WS contender would be giving up a future MLB’er for a divisional series sweep.

Hoskins would need trades as well to move Bohm to 1st, and what I see at the moment Bohms stick doesn’t play at First.

Even though Bryant may be a rental, there are six or seven legitimate suitors. The Cubs should come away with quite a haul as some club will overpay for 3 month rental.

Again, Name the last legit Haul for a rental?

Maybe Sabathia? And that was an era where prospects were less valued.

Best case might be a prospect around 100-200 plus 2-3 1000% lottery tickets.

Days of emptying the pipeline for 3 months of service are over.

Chapman for Torres. That’s a good call out. I would say that’s fair. How high was Torres up the charts at that time though would be my only question.

Machado in an elite year got a back end top 100 guy and spare parts.

Cubs aren’t going to top the Machado package and if they did it would be for Kimbrel not Bryant.

I get the homerism for sure though. I thought the Phillies should have gotten crazy hauls for all the parts of their 08 championship team.

Are you paying up for that guy? If so, just save it. Consider a fancy lunch for your lunch buddy or maybe buy into a group break
