I always like updates to this thread. The title always makes me laugh as well. It's funny because it's true.

Every time I get confused for a second or two thinking it's one of the "hustle hard" guys that popped up during 2020 and roll my eyes. Then I realize it's this thread and look forward to seeing some eye candy.

Jealous. I’m trying to put together the 2020 set but I’ve never seen the Judge, Trout, or Posey.

Not the most impressive set but completed nonetheless.

I need to go through what has been released the past few months to see if there are any cool new auto sets.

That is a very nice little set!

One thing that really strikes me looking at these cards, are how beautiful the signatures of all of these players are. Not just one or two of them, but the bunch. It shows a lot of pride and respect for their fans. I look at many of the current players across all sports and just shake my head at the lack of effort they put into their signatures.

Regards.

I can't help but wonder if the lack of eye appeal on the newer signatures is a school thing where they might not be teaching the same stuff as before or if players of today just don't give a ****. I know some people say players of today are asked more often for autos but I don't know if I agree with that. You might not have had all these signatures in card packs back when but I can tell you as an 80's and 90's autograph hound I've met 8 of the 11 players shown above on multiple occasions and they were always mobbed by fans (before the game, after the game, hotel, etc). Griffey use to have to park his White Mercedes in a fenced area and walk across a paved lot in a sea of people to get inside The Kingdom, his auto never looked like chicken scratch. Granted after his first couple years things got out of control and the Mariners started having him park his car inside The Kingdom, but the rest of the Mariners still had to walk the lot and deal with all those pens shoved in their face.

This entire thread is impressive, which got me to thinking. You know what would be supremely impressive? Collecting a serial # set, doesn't matter which, say to /99. That's impressive, but what would make it super impressive is if they were all the same number. Like the whole set was #50 of 99, or #3 of 99.

I'm sorry, it's late and I'm tired.

You guys would know better than me, but how dumb would it be to start on a few auto sets nearly 20 years old that have multiple /15 in them? I kinda already started the sets so it's too late to turn back now, just wondering if these kind of cards ever surface after so much time has passed or if they end up in player collectors collections. Player collectors are my mortal enemy, along with wax collector. Actually wax collectors are worse. Bust that sh*t and sell me singles!

Those 91 Bowman buyback autos are sweet -- I've always liked that set's design and photos.

Agreed! Nothing better than ripping cards from their wrapper prisons...set them free! Keep the empty box for display if you want, but dang, they were meant to be opened.

Me too, when I first laid eyes on them I didn't care how many were going to be signed set wise, 5 cards or 500 I was destined to be balls deep in it regardless.

Absolutely insane stuff.

Might have to look into putting together an auto set now.

What I really want to do is finish a damn hockey set, which is apparently impossible to do. Upper Deck doesn't help with their ridiculous odds system and refusal to number cards or tell you how many of each exist.

I love it when the "Breaking News" thread pops up with a new addition. The first three cards on the left justify the set.

I wish there was something in this set to justify the 97 cards but it just doesn't hold up. Unless someone actually wants to see all 97 cards lol. It's full of trash.
